At @IBTxOfficial Bangalore, @pradeeprao_, Director and Chief Architect at Kyndryl, pointed out that quantum machines can solve certain tasks in minutes that would take classical computers unimaginable amounts of time. So what exactly is quantum computing? 🔹Quantum computing is an emerging technology that takes a very different approach to processing information. 🔹Instead of relying on the step-by-step calculations of today’s computers, it uses principles from quantum physics to explore many possibilities simultaneously. How will it impact the future of blockchains? 🔹Blockchains today depend on cryptography that is intentionally designed to be difficult for computers to break. 🔹This difficulty is what prevents attackers from guessing private keys or rewriting transactions. 🔹If future computers become powerful enough to solve these problems much faster, the security guarantees that blockchains rely on start to weaken. So what's the solution? 🔹The long-term solution to this problem is Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC). 🔹These are new cryptographic algorithms designed to stay secure even when quantum computers become powerful enough to attack current systems. Ethereum is already preparing to resist future threats from quantum computing, and HSBC recently ran a pilot for quantum-safe technology for tokenised gold. 👉Cryptos that will integrate Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) might be the next big narrative. This transition will clearly separate strong future-ready blockchains from those that aren’t built to last.
