₥є₥єภ†๏ร it’s time. mementos is my next collection - with a twist. this isn’t just an edition. it’s a system. a mechanism for creative exchange, with aligned incentives between creator and collector. when you mint a memento: 70% of your mint goes straight into a vault - redeemable by you at any time. 30% goes to me - to build, experiment, and take bigger swings. IRL, URL, all of it. each memento is a credit - an 1155 token you can redeem (or trade) to: → unlock new works → claim allowlists or physicals → commission something personal → or simply get your ETH back your actions matter. redemptions burn supply. less onchain = more meaning, more value (maybe). as the number of mementos shrinks, value grows with me - not the market. when you redeem, you don’t just receive something - you release what was locked. a fairer flow of value. between us. redeem to unlock. redeem to access. redeem to participate. redeem to exit. the more that’s redeemed, the fewer remain. the supply contracts. the work expands. no hype. no roadmap. just a cyclical system: art in, art out. value in, value through. the mementos mint will open the week of august 18th (day/time tbd). the site is live now if you'd like to dig in - mement0s dot xyz this is not just an edition mint. it’s a structural shift. from me, to you - and back again. ily ₥

a game of games: multiple games within the game, multiple ways to play (each with varying levels of skill / time / risk / cost), and multiple ways to win. that's what we're building. it's called gigaverse.

Gigaverse - Void Mobs (2 new bosses) Somebody fought @Aizcalibur the other day thus revealing him as the 5th boss. Devs also added @oooharambe recently, and somebody squared off against him shortly thereafter. Both Aiz and Harambe are slightly weaker than the other 4 as they have less armor regen on their weapons. But their offense is devastating. Harambe will whip out 11 damage of punishment with his shield, which is the highest in the entire dungeon. No stats have been updated since last time, so it seems devs are happy with the balance. Clearing the dungeon is really difficult, but doable with the proper amount of luck and potions. I have never crossed paths with Gigan Zyren at 2-4, so he lacks an avatar. If somebody have a screenshot of a battle with him, pls share so I can complete the chart.

This is a photo of the most expensive piece of physical art I've ever bought and owned (25eth at time of purchase) before it was destroyed. Many familiar with Jack Butcher's artwork will understand the meaning of the design and why this simple visual is notable, but "art" aside, let me explain why Checks Element "Fire" was interesting. All 152 pieces are unique, and were sold as a pairing of digital and physical items. At the conclusion of the sale, every buyer received both. Many luxury brands have experimented with the idea of attaching a digital, cryptographically secured "receipt" with their physical goods (watches, bags, etc.) but this was one of the first times I had seen an artwork treat the physical counterpart as the diminutive version of the pairing. Within the collection, there were 4 ultra-rare editions (Alpha Edition) that represented the most basic of elements: Earth Air Water and Fire (the one I obtained) Of these, the Fire piece is unique for two reasons: 1) Most of the pieces in this collection were sold in an online auction in partnership with Christies. While this was excellent as a way to increase the visibility of the artist, the auction house is a traditional organization that requires full KYC of buyers and only superficially engages in blockchain-based artwork. This isn't a dig at them in any way, just the reality of the business. But a small percentage of the collection was reserved and sold only through a decentralized auction built by Jack and team. Part of the reason I bought the piece this way, and spent more on it than the other Alpha pieces was to show the importance of decentralized art and the decreasing power of middlemen in creative businesses. 2) As far as I know, this is the only physical counterpart in the Checks Elements collection that has been destroyed. Not all buyers of these original digital pieces claimed their physical piece, but of those that did, all still exist. The Fire piece, ironically, was destroyed on January 7, 2025 during the Pacific Palisades wildfire, and now only exists as a digital item. In other words, one of the most decentralized, anti "traditional" pieces of art in this collection, lost its last connection to anything that doesn't exist on-chain. And to me, the fact that this happened not on purpose, but through powerful external forces, adds a singular and pretty insane provenance to this art. Thanks for reading, to the very few who probably did. This was mostly a diary entry for me, and I appreciate anyone who decided to tag along in this braindump.

Ethereum. Fun fact: I met @VitalikButerin in 2013 at the San Jose Bitcoin conference when he was writing for Bitcoin Magazine (his writing was great). A few months later I invited him to come by Coinbase's first office in San Francisco for a visit and he showed us some cool stuff on his laptop. Fred, Olaf, and I decided we should try to hire him, and reached out to see if he would be interested in joining us. But due to a series of circumstances, including him not being able to get a work visa in the U.S., it didn't work out and he had to go back to Canada. While he was stuck in Canada he created Ethereum. So, in a way, the sub-optimal immigration system in the U.S. contributed to the creation of Ethereum. Happy 10th birthday Ethereum!
