@fatbaldguyracin Sounds good in theory but NYRA would never go for it. The further back you move the Belmont the more it takes away from the Travers and Saratoga. Not to mention the Haskell. You need spacing between the Belmont and those summer marquee races.

People are forgetting 2021 The Suits who never get anything right in Horse Racing decided to take away Lasix .........you cant expect million dollar horses to run back in 2 weeks just for the sake of tradition with no Lasix. No horseman want to do that . Period . No horse on the undercard runs back either . Move it to Memorial weekend 4 weeks out and you would have 10 horses run back and 40 horses on the undercards run back. The fields would be gigantic all day long. NYRA would be forced to move the Belmont back to end of June which again would make it HARDER to win the Triple Crown as the fields would be Huge .

@MarkZinno Hope you had this same energy when they retired winners of Triple Crown races like Dornoch and Archangelo….jussst prior to them running in the Breeders Cup Classic. Due to “injuries.”

Translation: We were a 23-1 long-shot to win the Derby and don’t think we would win the shorter track against a horse like Renegade again. So we will preserve our horse’s health — AHEM! “Value” — and get the max we can for future stud fees. Gutless horse owners have killed this sport. They prioritize money over wins and legacy. She’s not the first, nor the last do this. It’s just destroyed this once insanely popular sport.

@AHPDrew Why does the retail player need implied odds? Can they not look at will pays and come to a conclusion on which horses are or are not going to end up with the majority of the play?

For months now I’ve been using DD will pays to predict what the final odds for a race will be. It’s fairly obvious to me and others the will pays help predict final odds, why don’t ADWs do this for their customers? No reason to keep using MLs on the day of a race. That’s 1 man’s opinion. After the first race goes off, start using the implied odds to show the value of each horse. Those numbers are based off of many people’s opinions, the wagering public’s opinion (human and computer) who’s more likely to bet the next race as well. Under the will pays tab on an ADW, give the dollar amount and then give the implied odds based on that. Super easy and it eliminates the need to follow the MLs.

@Halo_chains Why didn’t you alert the principal or one of their assistants, or even a school counselor to contact the family or a guardian, as to why the child was not being fed while under their care?

@13Camel @Halo_chains How is the American system at fault? Blame it on the parents or the guardian. Blame it on the school, the school nurse, a counselor or teacher for not following up with who is responsible for the student’s well being, especially when it comes to their nourishment.

Out of every disgusting, dishonest piece of filth the mainstream media has produced about Hurricane Helene... This is the worst. 60 Minutes has NEVER done a story on the families FEMA denied. They NEVER mentioned the Amish, who are STILL in the mountains rebuilding homes 550 days later. They NEVER mentioned Jake Jarvis, who has worked 550 days STRAIGHT FOR FREE for Hurricane Helene victims. Instead, they dug up some fringe conspiracy angle to smear the people who actually showed up as White Nationalists. I'm so angry. Let me tell you what 60 Minutes will NEVER report on I was there. I lived it. I am still here. I shared every story I could find. Me, my wife, hundreds of volunteers delivered RVs to mothers holding babies who were sleeping in TOOL SHEDS AND TENTS in the freezing cold, in the mountains. Because their homes had been ripped off the side of a mountain and washed down the French Broad. So tell me 60 Minutes... WHERE WAS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT? Tell me, WHY did all these volunteers NEED to show up? Any thoughts on that?!!!!! Any investigation AT ALL into the federal or state government's response to Hurricane Helene? Please tell me... if the federal government was doing such a GREAT JOB, why did we need to put victims in RVs... ...A MONTH AFTER THE HURRICANE?!!!!!!! Literally every single victim you talk to in Western North Carolina has a horror story about dealing with FEMA... ...and guess who they will all say actually cam through for them? Neighbors. Church groups. The Amish. The Cajun Navy. Shawn Hendricks. Samaritan's Purse. MercuryOne. The Mission Mules hauling insulin up washed-out roads, ONLY ACCESSIBLE by mules. Greg Biffle burning his own fuel in helicopters. Veterans like Adam Smith who organized helicopter rescues with other veterans BY HIMSELF and then was demonized by the media for it. Volunteers like Jake Jarvis working TO THIS DAY, 550 days later without ANY PAY AT ALL. THOSE ARE THE STORIES FROM HURRICANE HELENE WORTH TELLING. But 60 Minutes won't tell ANY OF THEM. Because the truth makes the federal government the villain and the "deplorables" are actually the heroes in this story and they can NEVER admit that. So instead they smeared the rescuers as white nationalists. This is unforgivable. I was there. I saw it with my own eyes. And I will BE DAMNED if I let CBS rewrite the history of what happened to my mountains.

@R_Nagel_REMAX @3coltshandicap Churchill has more indoor and outdoor seating options than any track in the country, over 50K of which are outdoors. Of course it can look relatively empty on any given race day.

The Kentucky Derby is a great product: a big field of top-class thoroughbreds, pageantry galore, prestige, energy, high stakes, big money, and world-class athleticism. It’s like any great playoff or championship game in sports. But it’s an exception. The day to day product in horse racing rarely resembles this race or event. Though in fairness, we shouldn’t expect it to. Still, if the everyday experience doesn’t improve-meaning larger, more competitive fields and an environment where customers (both frontside and backstretch) feel respected and valued-then it will be difficult to attract a substantial number of new fans in the long term. I love using the restaurant business as an analogy for improving our sport. You can run a commercial and showcase the most visually appealing food imaginable, but if customers show up to your restaurant and the food falls short, many won’t return…or at least won’t come back as often as you’d hope they would. And they certainly won’t take time out of their day to learn more about your product. We love great stories. We love heartwarming ones. We enjoy rooting for likable individuals who work hard to achieve their dreams. We love witnessing those people achieve their dreams. Promoting these stories is essential. We can learn so much from content creators and influencers. Their creativity is engaging and fun, and it just goes to show how many talented people there are in our sport. But like a movie, a strong trailer only gets people into the theater. If the film itself doesn’t deliver, audiences won’t stick around. The same principle applies for any business: the product must match the promotion. Every effort should be made to deliver the best possible experience. Rather than focusing solely on enhancing marquee events like the Triple Crown, the industry should prioritize improving the day-to-day racing product at every level, from premier tracks to the smallest fairs. Because promotion will only go so far if new fans arrive expecting a thrilling experience and leave disappointed.
Racing Dudes@racing_dudes

So how do we get those nearly 25 million to care about the sport more than once a year? What is it about the Derby that makes it so much more appealing?

@R_Nagel_REMAX @3coltshandicap Stands were packed everyday last week, Dickie Downer. Not to mention Churchill has Twilight Thursday’s, Downs After Dark, Mother’s and Father’s Day, Stephen Foster Day and closing Thanksgiving weekend in the fall that all draw big crowds.

@3coltshandicap Agreed. The Derby is an amazing spectacle, but the day-to-day racing product is garbage. The only two days there are fans in the stands are Churchill are the first Friday and Saturday in May.

@3coltshandicap Best possible experience? How about moving the Oaklawn banner to the bottom of the screen, or removing it all together during the running of a race. Nothing like needing a 40-1 stretch runner to round out a super and the banner is blocking half the field. Do better!

@BeemieAwards Yep, considering there were 10 horses within about 4 lengths of the leader at the 1/8th pole it would have been hard to work in the winner before then.

Can I ask for the zillionth time why most tracks won't properly show a gallop-out? Is there a powerful organization of owners lobbying for truncated, zoomed-in shots on winners in order to glory in their victory? Can someone tell me the downside of doing it right?
