I teach the fraudulent PACE trial as how not to conduct research in my research methods course. My students ask how this demonstrated slop got into and stays in a prestigious journal. Maybe someday I’ll have @TheLancet editors in as guest speakers to tell my students themselves.

Interestingly enough, the equivalence between ME and PEM is far from “demonstrably false.” There is no case definition of any other disease that requires PEM.
None. Absolutely none.
Rather, ME requires PEM by any contemporary case definition of the past 20 years.

Maybe this is a trifling thing but it’s something I see people constantly not getting right. So *deep breath* here goes nothing.
Post-exertional malaise is best understood in the context of ME/CFS. It is required for the diagnosis, and so, we say it is the hallmark of ME/CFS.

If anyone has old #MECFS materials they might need to downsize, I’m still interested in Chronicles (though I don’t know when I’ll be well enough to scan them) and a local university has a small archive from CT ME advocates that they said they would be interested in expanding.
