I truly could not believe that Dr. Alaa al-Najjar’s nine children were charred, severely mutilated, until I watched an interview a minute ago with her brother-in-law describe it. He was the first one to arrive at the scene. He said the youngest child was 6 months old. Her name was Sidra. The father himself remains in critical condition.

“Dr Alaa al-Najjar watched with her own eyes as the charred bodies of her seven children were pulled from beneath the rubble – while two remain missing – all while she was on duty at Nasser medical complex.” The two missing children were later confirmed killed. The first two photos are of Dr. al-Najjar’s only surviving child, Adam, 11yo. The third photo is of Dr. al-Najjar and her husband, Dr. Hamdi al-Najjar, who also remains in critical condition.

I was at Nasser Hospital in #Gaza when it was bombed today. One of my patients, a 17-year-old boy, was killed. He would have gone home tomorrow. If I had been changing his dressings, as I planned to this evening, I probably would have been killed too. Attacking hospitals is a war crime, and it needs to stop.
