VVD, Konate, Leoni & Jacquet is a good quartet, but Virgil will be 35, Konate has been off form for months & both younger players are inexperienced & coming off serious injuries. A fifth utility type CB would be ideal - likes of Geertruida who could also cover RB & DM.

One guy you’ll never see me dig out is Virgil Van Dijk. Guy has CARRIED our defence all season. He’s conceded pens & made mistakes because of the incompetence around him. 34 yo, playing every minute of every game. Let’s not forget the mental toll the man is carrying. As captain, he won a title & then buried Jota within weeks. Yet he fronts up to the media and takes all the responsibility, every week. Proud he’s our captain and gutted he’s fought alone for too much of this season. #LFC

I’m sorry but I don’t appreciate signing a deal in the last minute. If you want to be here, you sign that deal 18 months ago. He’s clearly been weighing up his options, and if he signs that deal now it’s because all other ships have sailed.

[🟢] NEW: Ibrahima Konaté has been in talks with Liverpool for 18 months, with no agreement yet after an initial offer was deemed too low. Talks were paused but have since resumed. The most likely outcome is that the defender signs a new deal, with his current contract set to expire this summer. Liverpool and Konaté have never been CLOSER to reaching an agreement, although details still need to be finalised.
