1/12 Hey @pumpdotfun team & @a1lon9, I’ve been a heavy user (and degen) on the platform since day one, and I keep coming back to one idea that I think could completely change the meme coin meta on Solana: Let creators choose to deploy and graduate to USDC (or USDT) liquidity pools instead of SOL. 2/12 Right now, every coin that hits the bonding curve and graduates to Raydium gets paired with SOL. That means every meme coin’s chart is effectively 50% SOL exposure. When SOL pumps, everything flies. When SOL dumps (and it dumps often), even coins with strong buying pressure get absolutely wrecked. 3/12 We’ve all seen it: A coin is ripping, community is hyped, volume is insane… Then SOL drops 8% in an hour and the meme coin chart looks like it got rug pulled. Retail sees red candles, panics, sells. The pump dies for reasons that have nothing to do with the meme itself. 4/12 If creators could choose a stablecoin pair (USDC/USDT), the coin’s price would reflect pure demand for the meme. No forced correlation with SOL volatility. A good meme would actually be allowed to pump on its own merits. Chart would look cleaner, retail would stick around longer, FOMO would be stronger. 5/12 Bigger, cleaner pumps = more volume = more fees for Pump.fun. Yes, fees are currently collected in SOL, but you could easily keep the fee structure the same (convert to SOL on the backend if needed). The increased volume from stickier, less frustrating trading sessions would more than offset any complexity. 6/12 This would also attract a whole new wave of degens: - People who hate getting “SOL-rugged” on every dip - Traders from other chains who avoid Solana memes because of base layer volatility - Creators who want their meme to stand on its own story, not ride SOL’s mood swings 7/12 Technically, this is very doable. Raydium already supports USDC/USDT pools natively. Jupiter routing works flawlessly. You’d just need to add an option at deploy time: “Pair with SOL” (current default) or “Pair with USDC/USDT”. Bonding curve could run against the chosen pair from the start. 8/12 Now, the elephant in the room: This would be very bad for SOL price. Right now, every graduating coin locks up a meaningful amount of SOL in the LP + dev buy. Hundreds of coins graduate weekly → constant SOL buy pressure and lockup. Switching to stable pairs removes that tailwind. 9/12 I’m not ignoring that. SOL holders (myself included) benefit from the current model. But Pump.fun’s mission has never been to subsidize SOL price. It’s to make launching and trading memes as fun, fair, and chaotic as possible. Stable pairs align better with that mission. 10/12 You could even make it opt-in and see what the market chooses. My prediction: the vast majority of serious teams would pick stable pairs within weeks. The memes that actually have legs would separate themselves from the noise. The platform would become the undisputed king of meme launching. 11/12 Other platforms will eventually copy this if you don’t do it first. Solana needs a meme launcher that isn’t handcuffed to SOL volatility. Pump.fun is already #1 — this would make it untouchable. 12/12 So, @pumpdotfun — what do you think? Would love to hear your take. If you’re open to it, the community would go absolutely feral building on this. Let’s make memes pump on their own terms.
