devastated to hear that the poet J. H. Prynne died this morning. Prynne’s work has been a source of fascination, inspiration, puzzlement, & awe for me since ~2011, when his book Kazoo Dreamboats totally rearranged what I believed poetry could be. His poems are a tremendous gift:

This is Graycie. Severely neglected and too scared to eat, she shut down completely. But her incredible vet, Dr. Andy Mathis, climbed into her kennel and shared kibble meals with her every day until trust bloomed. She recovered fully and became his happy office doggo. Please leave a heart ❤️

Clea once asked him: ‘Do you not miss the sea, Scobie?’ and the old man replied simply, without hesitation, ‘Every night I put to sea in my dreams.’ — Lawrence Durrell, The Alexandria Quartet (1957-1960) Corfou: La Citadelle (uncredited)
