As one of the final events of #InteRussia, IR fellows met with Deputy FM Sergey Ryabkov to discuss global trends, incl. #multipolarity, security & shifting agendas. The meeting offered insight into how foreign policy decisions take shape.

The Primakov Center wrapped up its working visit to Türkiye 🇹🇷 In Ankara, an expert seminar “Russia & Türkiye in the Middle East” was held at ORSAM @orsamorgtr, focusing on regional policy, Gulf stability & Moscow–Ankara dynamics. 1/2

On 21–22 Apr, MGIMO hosted a delegation from the Institute of International Relations of the MFA of Turkmenistan, led by Rector Gulshat Yusupova. Talks focused on expanding academic cooperation, incl. exchanges & joint programmes in IR & energy diplomacy. 1/2

The study argues Western literature often overstates asymmetry in Russia–China ties, conflating capability gaps with dependence. Any disproportionate dependence is recent, mainly technological, and has not undermined partnership stability. 2/2

On 13 Apr, Wong Ka Ho defended his PhD thesis at MGIMO on “Great Power Asymmetry and the Russia–China Strategic Partnership,” supervised by Dr. Igor Okunev (IfIS). The study rethinks power asymmetry, focusing on dependence & influence beyond capability gaps. 1/2

On 15 Apr, Dr. Ekaterina Koldunova, Director of the ASEAN Centre, led a methodology seminar for #InteRussia fellows. Participants discussed approaches to framing research problems & questions for their ongoing projects.

Commenting to @berlinerzeitung on the “Easter ceasefire,” Dr. Artem Sokolov, Senior Research Fellow at MGIMO’s Institute for International Studies, noted its potential as a model for future de-escalation steps, despite continued incidents. 1/2
