There is an additional aspect that makes it worse. Most Westerners have been raised on the myth of the 'erudite Jew'. When a scholar is Jewish, he is looked at and listened to with extra reverence. This is the rockstar treatment meted out on people like Finkelstein and Chomsky. Finkelstein clearly revels in it. I've never considered them 'part of the movement', but Western 'goyim' usually want it to be led by Jews. That calms down their cognitive dissonance, as they are terrified to be labeled 'antisemite'. At least on the LEFT, which has historically been the only side of the spectrum dealing with Palestine from a critical perspective. That's why his attack on the conservatives who broke away from the pro-'Israel' camp is predictable (although I haven't read it). Leftists are furious that many Palestinians cheer on right-wing 'Israel'-critics. Finkelstein will, of course, want to be the flag-bearer for that anger. It's going to predictably zoom in on perceived 'motives', and reinterpret actions so as to make them 'sinister'. It will be highly effective, but it won't change much in the big picture. For most of us Palestinians, this is a non-issue to start with. Give me Candace over Finkelstein any day.
The footage out of Gaza the last few days has been horrifying, but the footage tonight is reminiscent of what we witnessed day in and day out through 2023 and 2024. One friend in Nuseirat camp said that tonight was the worst night they’d experienced. It is the day before Eid al Adha and Israel, the ethno-supremacist Jewish nation it is, is slaughtering Palestinians as it always does before Islamic holidays.
