Where are wasps this year? 2021’s cold, wet spring has made it a tough year for UK wasps. Absence of wasps may be good for BBQs but means other insect pests lack key predators. Have you seen many wasps this summer? Tell us! @ConversationUKtheconversation.com/why-wasps-beco…@bigwaspsurvey
Alan and I have just found our second patch Red-backed Shrike of the year. This one near the entrance to the DWT reserve. Plenty of common migrants this morning too including nearly 50 Wheatears and 15 Whinchats across West Bex & Cogden. @DorsetBirdClub
Sitting in garden and regularly hearing siskin seeping high up heading south.
Occasionally see them here (used to nest in the conifer plantation I’m told) but seems like a movement.
Anyone else picking them up? @Bexbirder@AJBbirder@DorsetBirdClub@ornisobscura@NotQuiteScilly
@OilBeetlesUK Thank you but puzzled to where it came from. Found up on front door step. Few hours before, Waitrose food put crates on doorstep for 5 minutes ! I'll put more pics up with record. Shame it's a male.
@mgtr8 And if you have any more pictures of the beetle, attach them when you submit the record. Has the look of Black but be good to see more images just to be 100% certain as Violet Oil Beetle is very similar.
