This is indeed a season of mourning.

His vision for the beloved community, fierce insistence on justice for all, and deep love for humanity touched those who knew him and those who will never meet him alike. Our condolences to his loved ones; may he rest in the peace and power that he brought to our community.

We are profoundly saddened by the loss of our beloved spiritual leader, Los Angeles’s Pastor, our own Reverend Dr. Cecil L. “Chip” Murray.

This gives our seniors, many of whom reside in our District, the opportunity to apply for, and serve on, the commission.

Today, the Council voted to fix LA’s redistricting system by instituting an independent redistricting process.

Tonight I stood with hundreds of Jewish friends @wisela to mourn and remember those taken from us, and unite in an unequivocal denunciation of the acts violence against the people of Israel. I categorically condemn these attacks and join the pursuit for peace and justice.

Angelenos deserve congressional representatives that will codify a pathway to citizenship and protect DACA.

LA is home to the highest number of DACA recipients–our neighbors, colleagues, classmates, and relatives. While the recent Federal ruling does not revoke their right to be here it puts those who have not filed, and the program at large, in jeopardy.

All of our people should be able to be safe on our streets at all times. We will pursue and prevent these violent folks with everything we have.

We all know this must be stopped right away.  If any of us see anything or hear of something about to happen, it’s on us to say something.

Within the last several weeks, food and other street vendors have been viciously attacked and robbed of their hard-earned equipment, products, and cash.

We want to make sure these workers secure the right and best deal as they move forward.

While a strike may cause a temporary slowdown of services the significance of City Employees cannot be overstated. City employees, retirees, and job seekers are all cornerstones of the South Los Angeles economy.
