“Teaching is complex and nuanced. How to interact with learners is a science and replication is very challenging bc the teacher creates a vibe and the vibe has a slightly different frequency each and every year.”@ccps_gifted @katiemartinedu @edutopia @PoojaAgarwal

When it comes to classroom decorations, how do you strike the right balance between engaging and chaotic? ⚖️ Here’s what the research says: edut.to/3W0xYqm

HS Football Coaches are you coaching/teaching your players with IEP’s according to their learning style? If they have SEL goals how is being a part of your program helping them meet that goal? You thought you could show up and Coach. There’s levels to this. #HSFootball #coaching

@mhobaugh I’m not blaming the coach. As the leader they should be aware of these things. As far as training and understanding it. Reach out to the Special Ed Department and have them do a PD for the coaches. The resources are in the building.

Gold. Same in the classroom bc I am human and I will let you down if you if your confidence comes from me. Of course I want a relationship with students and families but being an agent for your life is powerful.

@InquiryEdu Because?????? There is a purpose to learn how to write a clear sentence. Teaching in isolation has its place but not often.

#PBL is everything . I'm learning a lot through formative assessment: Who needs support collaborating, organizing sentences, using text features and structure...who succeeds @ creative thinking, facilitating, speaking& listening... Ss are in control of their learning. #edutwitter

@SusanTotaro @responsiveclass Best training I ever got (RC1&RC2) summer institutes. It is the core of my teaching! Chip Wood and Ruth Sidney Charney influence my every word when interacting with students and parents.

There’s something so exciting about brand new teachers’ classrooms and watching them get it ready all summer long. So much wonder. So much self-drive. So much innocence. The sad part is when we see a new teacher lose that because they don’t feel supported during their first year. Support your new teachers. 🔺Check on them daily. 🔸Model lessons for them. 🔺Provide them an automatic coaching cycle with the instructional coach on day 1. 🔸Provide specific feedback. 🔺Model the first phone call home. 🔸Pre-plan their first parent conf and do it with them. 🔺Simply ask, “How can I help?” And ask often. Teachers will be more likely to stay in the profession when they feel supported. Plain and simple. What did I miss?

@AshleyWiltse2 @EmilyAPaschall So why is this? Because management takes advantage of teachers' altruistic natures? If you're spending 2+ weeks setting up your room over summer break, then that's not really a break. You should either be compensated for your work or given time during your contracted days.

@mrbg @klbsteph @EmilyAPaschall So much here to discuss. Just too much to say so I will be brief- setting up a classroom for hours and hours is unnecessary and counter to a learner centered classroom. Yes there is lots of pre-work that makes the teaching day manageable but please stop over decorating.

@klbsteph @EmilyAPaschall So perhaps supporting teachers means paying them for their labor? Hard to think of another profession where employees spend hundreds if not thousands of their own dollars on necessary supplies and then are expected to set up their work spaces on their own time w/o compensation.
