@Ststansberry@joceperezCSUB A3) Podcasts could be a great form of technology to help focus on ELL students. There are various podcasts to help students comprehend English. 6 Minute English is a great beginner podcast. They speak slowly and this specific podcast is interactive. #csubted@Duncannedd
Question 3). Let’s keep the chat going strong. Tonight’s question was written by @JoceperezCSUB. Make sure you respond with A3) before your response. Don't forget to tag #CSUBTED , #CSUBEDTE4200, and your EDTE 4200 professor.
@Ststansberry@joceperezCSUB Lexia is a great engaging platform for all students to work on literacy but especially for ELL students. Lexia’s English Language Development is specifically tailored to support ELL and integrates speaking, listening and grammar for academics.#csubted#csubedte4200@Ststansberry
@Ststansberry@joceperezCSUB A3) A technology tool that can help ELL students is starfall my students love to use it and play games. This helps them hear the letter and sound as well as CVC words. They are pronounced slowly and are able to hear every sound blend together. #csubted
@tom_karnes@CsubMadelyns A2) The lack of technology at home during the pandemic was a huge barrier between many students some had secure devices and WiFi at home. Meanwhile, many students struggled with both. Which is a huge disadvantage in academics. Whether it's a lecture or hands-on. #csubedte4200
Hey all...here is Tuesday's question 2 written by @CSUBMadelyns. Make sure you respond with A2) before your response. Don't forget to tag #CSUBTED , #CSUBEDTE4200, and your EDTE 4200 professor.
@mahokagawa@tom_karnes@doctor2pi@CsubMadelyns@DrEddiesClass Hi Maho, I can relate my students all lived in an area where the wifi would not connect and when it did it was always cutting out which made it very difficult for them to learn.
@tom_karnes@CsubMadelyns A2) A time where technology was integrated and did not go as planned was when my students were suppose to go onto google classroom and do a Boomcard but our wifi at school shut down so my kids could not do it.
Question 4). Shout out to @SarahCeja03 for tonight's question! Remember to respond with A4) and be sure to tag #CSUBTED , #CSUBEDTE4200, and your EDTE 4200 professor.
@SusieGamino@MaddernBryan@SarahCeja03 Hi Susie, I agree having google classroom has made it a lot easier to keep track of homework and integrated a new way to have in class work.
@MaddernBryan@SarahCeja03 I think that a technology I would of enjoyed would be google classroom, I enjoyed the non paper pencil in classroom, it would also helped become more tech savvy and confident in technology for myself.#CSUBTED4200#csubted @ Bryan maddern
@doctor2pi A1) Google classroom for me is an innovative tool because it helps you communicate with students virtually with assignments and grading which is so great for teachers and students. #csubted#csubedte4200
@mumofdeux@doctor2pi Hi Elle, my students love flipgrid and its so easy I always thought using technology in kinder would be kind of tough but the kids do so well when using flipgrid.
@doctor2pi A1) Flipgrid is a resource that I discovered this year & I’m 🤯 at how easy it is to use & it allows students to get their point across with a video rather than just typing things out. Being able to use Flipgrid makes responses more meaningful. #csubted#csubedte4200@doctor2pi
@doctor2pi A1) A resource I found that is very helpful is nearpod, my students love how interactive it is and they are very engaged during the lessons. #csubted
@MaddernBryan@SarahCeja03 I do a group project where my kids build a cube using straws and play dough I think incorporating Flipgrid would of been a great tool to use in order for the kids to share their results and their thought process with the rest of the class. #csubted

@AmyCarr45985619@WrightMath314@joboaler@csubted I agree, its all about being flexible even if the answer they get is not correct they still have number sense because they used numbers to get the answer.
@joboaler shares the importance of number sense in order to perform problem solving and interact with maths. What is number sense? Why is number sense so important? How can we support students develop number sense daily? #EDEL5200@csubted#mathmindset
@CalisClass@WrightMath314@joboaler@csubted That is a great way to help students develop number sense. One of my favorite ways is to have a number of the day and throughout the day students go around looking for that number or object that make that number such as 3 trees or 2 chairs together
@WrightMath314@joboaler@csubted Number sense is the ability to recognize numbers and how they are used. Number sense is very important because it helps students develop a positive interaction with numbers and math. #edel5200
@WrightMath314@joboaler@csubted Everyone is already a mathematician! Math is all around us, not just in the class. I think as educators we need to directly ask students and parents, and then take their answers seriously. #edel5200#mathmindset
@joboaler claims "the very best opportunities to learn come about when students believe in themselves." What can we change at home, schools, communities, and in society as a whole to ensure that our students believe in themselves as they learn math?#EDEL5200@csubted#mathmindset
