Over the course of my career, I have been an Associate Editor at three journals. Finding reviewers was one of the most difficult parts of the job. Today is the fifth anniversary of the funniest "decline to review" notes I received. I post it below for your reading please. 1/4

I recommended reject, and the editor emailed back to say he liked the review and ask if I would review a revision. I said yes. Then I received another email from the editor days later indicating that Frontiers would not allow me to review the revised paper. 2/3

Quick story as a reminder that @FrontiersIn journals are best avoided. I never review for them, but received a request where I wanted to have input on the paper, so I took the review. 1/3

It's finally happening. After many months Health Canada has approved of our first cannabis administration study. Part of the approval process requires us building...yes...a weed box for participants to smoke and get high. Not the most inviting or best use of tax payer funds (when you can see and smell cannabis users everywhere in the city), but baby steps people!

A while ago, a colleague said, "You are the collective emotion guy," and initially, I was uneasy with this title, as it felt a bit limiting. Later, at home, I reflected on my response. I’ve been consumed by the topic for a decade, so I guess I am that guy. Check out the episode.

Last year psychologists signed a letter supporting campus protests. I too support them. But the letter also dismissed the pain of Jewish students who felt gaslit and abandoned. It didn’t just support protesters, it erased the experiences of an entire community.

Being a parent is realizing you know a ridiculous amount on a topic in which you have zero interest. I can name 50 Pokémon, tell you their special powers, and explain the entire evolution process... but I still can’t find my wallet half the time. #ParentLife #PokéMasterByAccident

@julhynes And there is no reason why they can’t be posted somewhere after the talk (if at all). The excuse is “some people” (insert my best Trump impression) like to follow along with their own copy. But 99% of the time, with me at least, what I provide and what I present isn’t the same.
