@tha_Real_Kumar Yeah...I was actually pretty fine with both first halves all things considered. And I watched every poch chelsea game....not caring about reps. Chemistry and playing incredibly open was a hallmark. Soo...not surprised at all.

I’m kinda confused why much of the fan / media reaction seems to overlook or even dismiss Joe’s second point.. but I am much more puzzled by Poch still not being bothered about reps and chemistry #USMNT

A lot of soccernistas on here are acting like the USA is destined to make it to the round of 16 this summer. Does everyone realize that means winning a knockout stage game for the first time since 2002? 32 teams make the knockout stages this summer.

@joeclowery @TotalSoccerShow I listened. Basically agreed too. Real world, if with our "starters" we basically play more or less even with either Portugal or Belgium, I will take that and see what shakes out. Get out of the group, see what happens with the draw.

@joeclowery Yeah. I was generally fine with the first half of both games. I will feel alot better about the world cup if cp knocks some goals in before the end of the club season though. Didn't really think he played really bad, clearly in his own head in front of goal though

Two things can be true about the USMNT: (1) If you thought Poch was going to magically turn the USMNT into an elite team that reliably beats top teams, you were crazy. (2) The USMNT played pretty well in the most telling parts of clashes with Belgium and Portugal.

@StanUsmnt Not even sure what to say about this window. I had flashbacks to watching poch chelsea frankly. Basketball up and down style, completely open, little to no structure in transition moments. Giving up tons of goals. The players are different, but the play and results look same

@Eyesandvibes + pulisic's been fine up top in terms of creating chances but he's made bad decisions when it's time to shoot or pass, would like him as an AM in a 3-4-2-1 instead of as a false 9

My 3 thoughts USMNT vs Portugal half: 1) You can see how raw Alex Freeman is, but simultaneously how much potential he has. 2) Transition defending is going to hurt us in the World Cup. 3) Final 3rd passing is almost TOO unselfish at times. Take some shots. Have a 4th?

@Eyesandvibes Honestly thought it was solid. If your gonna go all poch basketball style against Portugal, then im fine only giving up 1 goal. Pulisic needs to calm down, he is actually playing fine. Just relax a bit bro. Nobody can pitch about effort for sure.

@TaylorTwellman Its kinda meh...whatever. maybe you just pack it in as a 541 or something as a trial run in case you need a seige lineup of something in knockout rounds....test some of your potential depth guys....who knows

I don’t think the #USMNT should be experiencing at the moment with tactical systems and new philosophical ideas on how to play in that system. 3 in the back was the staple for the turnaround in the team. False 9??? Thoughts?!

USMNT lineup notes: • Chris Richards starts which is huge, Trusty also gets a chance • How do you manage to start none of the strikers? • Freese back in between the sticks to cement his starting spot • Berhalter really needs a good game after the Belgium disaster

@Joelazo_10 I just saw that he did hint at doing this after the last game. Paraphrasing, he talked about maybe moving pulisic higher up and playing with less attackers. Makes me wonder if this is a let's bunker and counter type of runout.

The only thing I can think of is that Poch is using this more as a ‘roster decision game’ instead of a ‘trying to win’ game.

@St8ofFootball Its just weird...I dont mind the whole 352. Pulisic was arguably the best player in serie a to start the season playing in a 2. But, that was with a #9. Not an attacking mid next to him.....

🚨 #USMNT XI for #USAPOR There are a number of variations we could see based on the players. Potentially a 3-5-2 with Pulisic and Tillman leading the line. Think this makes sense given Berhalter and Morris both in as potential dual 6’s. Lots to learn tonight from this one.

Hmmm… this is confusing. TBH… kind of upset about this. Why do we have 3 in form strikers… and we’re starting NONE of them? What are we doing? Also, a back 4 again? We were playing the best ball in recent memory with our Back 3. I don’t get it 🤷
