@drjasper_eth From the very start the Trump DoJ was pushing aggressively on local PD. Prosecution strategy (like trying to go for death penalty) was 100% their fault, but breathing down the necks of locals to make a quick arrest led to some sloppiness.

The Mangione case is a an incredible case study on the incompetence of the Trump administration. They pushed to make an example of him and have overreached to the point that he might walk on all charges.
