@michaelgbode @MLB I am just saying why can MLB say on opening day if a west coast team is playing a eastern team you have to start at 1p wst or 4p wst. The rest of the series do whatever. In reverse an eastern team can't start earlier than 4p est. Just my thoughts to help fans on opening day.

If a candidate wants my vote part of their platform should be it is illegal for MLB teams in the est to play in the wst on opening day. Waiting 5 months for the season to start only to have your team play at 10:05p on a work/school night 💩. Maybe 1st pitch no later than 7:05 est

@MikeWKFMK96 @theblockspot It is a huge slight to play in those games. Tougher on teams to have extra travel & more school to make up.
And, you cannot even pick winner of those games in the brackets at the major outlets. People who thought SMU would win their Round-1 game get credit if Miami does now.

@theblockspot It isn't a slight to play in those games, it's an opportunity. I don't know why people have it in their head playing a winnable game, getting your feet under you in the tournament, advancing in the bracket where you might not play a 1 /2 seed until the sweet 16 or elite 8 is bad

1 Last night's game was a part of the big dance. Everyone who says different needs to adjust their thinking.
2 by playing last night and winning they earned themselves a 2nd unit or around 2mil extra. some of that gets shared with the rest of the MAC but Miami gets a nice pay day

@tangotiger Thankfully softball rule isn't as dumb as baseball. Keep it simple... If the pitcher is at fault for screwing up (as is the case here), then the batter should profit. If the hitter purposefully leans in, then that's obviously different. But why should they need to move?

It's only a HBP if the batter makes a reasonable attempt to get out of the way (in the judgement of the umpire)
What this batter did was the equivalent of redirecting the puck into the net... did they actually let this play stand as a HBP?

Actual answer. This is a tournament with run rules and electricians pitching in pool play.
Run differential incentivizes pulverizing outmatched teams. Leading by 14 with 2 outs in the 6th? Get out so you can have 3 outs to hopefully score 8-10 more runs in the 7th.

Truthfully, I don’t care much for the WBC, but with that being said How on earth is “runs allowed” a tie breaker in an actual tournament rather than “run differential” What sense does that make?

I think that anyone who wants a salary cap in baseball because they want to see a generational player wear a small market team’s uniform for 13 consecutive seasons wouldve argued for the reserve clause

@tangible_uno @GageEHC MLBPA screws over the middle and lower players (including the stipulations to even reach good pay taking most a decade) to maintain the pure benefit of the elite's contracts.
That can be fine if you prefer it, but to suggest the MLBPA is some infallible association is folly.

Becton was a great surprise for Philly in 2024. Which landed him a nice deal. And we all remember him being a physical anomaly of an OT prospect. The problem is he was terrible last year.
Also sounds like local media didn’t think too kindly of him. Buyer Beware.
