Update: There is no update. Been waiting on pins and needles for two days for him to call. Feeling pretty bummed and discouraged.

Ten years ago, my father passed away. While going through my father’s things, I found a birth certificate for another child of his I didn’t know existed. I’ve spent the last ten years looking for him. Tonight, I think I found him.

14 years ago, I honestly didn’t know that long term sobriety was possible. I just wanted the pain to stop. It hasn’t been easy or pretty, but I am grateful to have been given this gift.

Today, I am celebrating 14 years of continuous sobriety. It is the greatest achievement in my life if only because it led to my wife and children. Without it, nothing else would have been possible.
