Interesting fact... Peacock was all set to make a TV adaptation of "Field of Dreams," even going so far to build "a baseball stadum in a cornfield in Iowa." The show got cut while still in preproduction. As a recent Vulture article stated, "They built it, and nobody came." 5/x

Is there room in marketing for taking these kinds of big chances? Is it only something startups can do until their money runs out? What do you think? 4/x

"Build it, and they will come." This phrase came up again in a client call recently, and it got me thinking about how we've used it to signify false hope--at least in marketing. I use it that way, too, but that's not what it meant originally. 1/x #marketing

The big difference between a call to action and a call to adventure is the point of origin. A call to action says "this is how you buy." A call to adventure is about engaging goals and life plans. buff.ly/3ZKCB7H

In the same way you wouldn't let a new intern dictate strategy for new efforts, don't hand over your thinking processes to AI (just yet). Long story short, we still need a lot of YOU in your marketing efforts. healthconnectivetech.com/insights/human…

"All the nuances of designing new products can be reduced to one of two basic strategies: either finding what causes us pain and trying to eliminate it, or reinforcing what we already do with a new object that makes it so easy it becomes second nature." #userfriendly #books

I'm in one Slack community where I'm not even all that active, but I see everyone's comments and questions about marketing operations. That pushes me to think about our marketing ops a lot more, and it pushes me to expand my thinking. thread/4
