If one more person says to me that I should have had children, I swear to the goddess that I’ll lamp them.

@HilsMills33 @Socket1Sophie I agree that the top don't pay but a couple with assets including a house mortgage free over £1m are not ordinary people. The people most affected are those that have always been single, have no children and assets over £325k. They could be classed as ordinary.

Inheritance tax affects around the top 4% of the wealthiest of the population. Don’t let the right wing gaslight you into thinking the government will take 40% of your Granny’s bungalow sale when she pegs it.

This last year has been hard. I’ve been to some pretty dark places as I navigate life/this shitty world without D. Guilt, anger, fear, isolation. The constant tiredness. As the anniversary approached I started getting flashbacks again to D’s last week. Grief is bloody hard.

@answer_me_this8 So sorry to hear this, keeping busy, writing a journal, counselling, work, exercise, family and friends have got me through the last 2 years 4 months. There are still many times when I have to focus on how I'm going to get through the next 5 mins, a hot drink often helps. X

This #WorldMentalHealthDay is the worst I've ever felt. A year on from the loss of my youngest sister I feel I'm at breaking point. I've tried everything. If anyone out there has any coping strategies for #grief I'd be grateful.

A lovely couple of days enjoying the sunshine. Early birthday lunch yeaterday and a walk in the countryside with friends this morning. It's at times like this that I think maybe I will be OK, sadly the feeling doesn't last so I'm trying to enjoy it while I can. #widow

@SaffronKim I'm surprised he didn't follow Putin's line and call it a 'special military operation!'

To anyone who believes Netanyahu when he says the ‘incursion’ into Lebanon will be a ‘limited operation’, I admire your optimism.

@MartinSLewis @Telegraph Was it ever being considered? I've got to the point where I don't trust anything, particularly newspapers. I haven't ruled out climbing everest next month but it's not going to happen!

@MrMatthewTodd And to those replying to this effect it doesn't matter how well maintained and clear the drains are, if you have a month's rain in a day!!

We are devastated to say that our beautiful Isabelle died in the early hours of this morning. We are absolutely broken. However, we want you all not to think of her death, but to honour her by living life as she did: fearlessly, joyously & spontaneously.

Looking back now, there are a few things I wish someone had told me: 1. Your Life Isn’t Over It’s so easy to feel like life is over when you’ve lost someone so important to you. At first, it felt impossible to think I could ever feel joy or purpose again. But I’ve learned that while the loss will always be a part of me, it doesn’t define me. There is hope, and it *is* possible to build a beautiful life again. I love the life I have today. My happy moments aren’t ruined or overshadowed by sadness any more. 2. It’s Okay Not to Be Strong All the Time I felt like I had to hold it together, especially for others. But you don’t have to be strong every minute of every day. It’s okay to have days where you just can’t. Give yourself grace and take breaks when you need them. We can’t carry it all on our own, and we don’t have to. 3. Grief Isn’t Linear Before this, I had such a fixed idea of what grief was supposed to look like. But it’s not neat or predictable. One day you might feel like you’re doing okay, and the next you can’t get out of bed. That’s normal. And the idea that “time heals all wounds” doesn’t exactly apply to grief— time is a necessary component, but the key is what you do with that time. You must choose to process and heal if you want time to ease the pain. 4. People Won’t Always Understand I was shocked by how many well-meaning people said things that didn’t help, or worse, made me feel misunderstood. You may face judgments or bad advice, but that doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. Accept help when it’s truly supportive, but don’t be afraid to set boundaries and protect your heart when you need to. 5. You Can Build a Life You Love Again At first, the idea of moving forward felt like betrayal. But over time, I realized that creating a new life isn’t about forgetting the past—it’s about honoring it while finding joy in the future. You don’t have to have all the answers right now, but you *will* find your way. Trust that life still holds goodness and purpose for you, even if it looks different than before.

@ChrisJMN1 @Eyeswideopen69 Decent??!! He backed Boris and then Truss! He says he wants to take us out of EHCR, mainly because he thinks that will get him Conservative/Reform votes. Having said that he might be the best of that group which isn't saying much.

@Eyeswideopen69 Tugenhat the only decent one who would have broader appeal but the elderly party members won’t vote for him even though he is a decorated soldier.
