Thanks to Labour’s Employment Rights Act, you can now take paternity leave and unpaid Parental Leave from your first day on the job 👶 🎉 Today we see an uplift in workers’ rights, as a number of the new measures from the Employment Rights Act come into force, including: ➡️ A new right to paternity leave and unpaid parental leave from your first day on the job ➡️New, simpler trade union recognition rights ➡️Statutory Sick Pay from your first day off sick ➡️New protections for whistleblowers ➡️A new right to leave for bereaved fathers and partners

📢 I've secured FOUR Best Start Family Hubs for Sherwood Forest 👩‍👩‍👧‍👧 Rainworth, Hucknall, Calverton and Ollerton will see new Best Start Family Hubs open, building on our proud legacy of Sure Start, reviving family services and putting them back at the heart of our communities. This builds on our wider cost saving measures for families: ✅ Best Start free breakfast clubs ✅ Expanding free school meals ✅ Cutting school uniform costs ✅ Scrapping the two child limit

📣It is great news that the government has launched the long awaited Orgreave Inquiry to uncover the truth of what happened on 18th June 1984. ➡️For over 40 years, miners and families have lived with unanswered questions about what happened, and their voices have been ignored for far too long. ➡️Many were injured and 95 people were arrested. ➡️This inquiry must not only deliver answers but also deliver change. Answers, actions and justice!

📣Great to meet up in Wellow to discuss speed cameras and ways to keep our community safe 🚗 📷I have been working with the incredible Steve White and the Notts Police and Commissioner on a ground breaking project that will improve safety on the local roads in Wellow. ✅️The Parish Council were at the meeting in support and have been incredibly helpful in moving it forward. Community in action and at its very best. ➡️This has been a long time coming and together we are determined to ensure it is delivered. I will keep you updated. 🚘🚙🛻🚴‍♂️Road safety remains a real concern in rural areas, and it’s important we continue listening and working together to find solutions.

❤️I recently met with Blidworth on the Move where we held a roundtable meeting with Newark & Sherwood District Council, Your CVS, Blidworth Miners Welfare and the Parish Council. ➡️We had some great discussions around an exciting new project that will support all ages, at the very heart of the community. It will make a real difference. But talking is never enough, and that is why, together we are taking action. 🌟 Support for families in Sherwood Forest 🌟 🎉I’m really pleased to share that I have secured funding for 4 Best Start Family Hubs right here in Sherwood Forest. These will be based in: 📍 Calverton 📍 Hucknall 📍 Rainworth 📍 Ollerton ➡️These hubs will bring vital support closer to home for families—offering help with early years development, parenting support, health services and so much more, all in one place. ➡️I have met far too many parents where the SEND system has simply failed them. I’ve also worked directly with children with SEND, so I know first-hand how important it is to get support right from the very beginning. These hubs will also help drive earlier identification, better joined-up support and ensure families don’t have to fight to get the help they need. ❤️I remain so proud of the work I did all those years ago setting up Sure Start services. I know the difference they made to families—and that’s exactly why this matters so much. The Best Start Family Hubs build on that legacy, making sure families today get the support they need from day one. ❤️I have worked hard to ensure our communities get the investment they deserve, because every child should have the best possible start in life. 💬 I’ll be sharing more details soon—your voice will be key in shaping how these hubs work for our communities.

It was a pleasure to visit Rufford Abbey with English Heritage recently! Rufford is such a special place and I’m keen to see continued investment to help it reach its full potential. The work of English Heritage is so important. Their dedication to preserving and protecting our historic sites ensures that places like Rufford can be enjoyed by generations to come. ➡️ I’d love to hear ideas from you about the future of the large building currently housing the restaurant - how can we make the most of this space for everyone to enjoy?

❗❗❗ Incredible news - Labour has just released over 16 MILLION pounds to support children with SEND in Nottinghamshire - the biggest single funding allocation to deliver more places for children with SEND on record 👏 I've written Nottinghamshire County Council to ask how they'll be using that money to benefit children right here in Sherwood Forest - updates to follow.

📮 Last week's debate on Royal Mail performance showed just how much this issue matters to people across the country. It was so heavily subscribed that the 30 MPs - myself included - were given just 1 minute 30 seconds to speak. I spoke about the unacceptable delays affecting constituents in Clipstone, who have gone over 5 months without a reliable postal service. I also shared how personal this issue is to me, as the daughter of a postie who served for over 30 years. Royal Mail is more than just a company - it’s a vital public service and a proud British institution. But chronic understaffing, high turnover, and worsening conditions are pushing it to breaking point. It’s time for urgent action.
