My son turned 11 and asked for sushi for his birthday dinner. Done. Made the reservation. Then my in-laws called. They were coming into town and wanted to get together. I invited them along. Me: Then we'll see you both days. I figured that was their decision to make. We showed up to the restaurant. My son ordered everything he wanted. My sister in law sat down, looked at the menu for a long time, and ordered edamame and white rice. She was fine. No migraine. My son ate sushi until he could not move. Him: (on the way home, completely full) Him: Best birthday. Me: (looked at him) Me: Yeah? Him: Can we do this every year? But at the end of the day, if you can afford to order an extremely expensive $18 for a Wagyu burger and $14 for a Jack and Coke, you can afford to tip the human being who served it to you.
