After continuing to mock Ann Widdecombe following her murder, and then Lindsey Graham following his death, the University of Aberdeen employee who wrote that he wished Widdecombe's death was "extremely painful" has had his account suspended by Bluesky

Ahmed Al-Saqar has been detained in Jordan. This is a major development in the ongoing investigation into the murder of American citizen Jamey Carney in Co Kerry last week. We’re breaking it all down in our latest podcast. Out now. Here’s YouTube: youtu.be/oXVyk98lhho?is…

@NigelXYYMan Well. I co-wrote three editions of McNae’s Essential Law for Journalists and specifically the chapter on contempt, so I think maybe I’ve got a better grip of it than you. Schedule 1, Contempt of Court Act 1981, says proceedings are active once someone is arrested. Look it up.

Someone has been arrested in connection with the death of Ann Widdecombe - that means publishing anything, including posts on X, which risks seriously prejudicing a trial, is an offence. It also doesn’t help her friends and family in obtaining justice. Link in next post…

“ We have temporarily removed this briefing while it undergoes an internal review..’’ What! Eh! Hang on! Amnesty’s reputation is collapsing and they are “reviewing” a public statement…. I have never seen such chaos-in-comms….

Translation: oops, didn’t realise people outside our ideological bubble are THIS pissed off about the loss of sex-based rights. We remain implacably opposed to any organisation fighting to retain them, but shove in the words ‘rights of women’ to keep the bigots happy.

A year ago today we lost our friend Mick O’Neill. There isn’t a day that I don’t think of him. I miss the long hours in the car together. I even miss him telling me off! An incredible photographer and an even better journalist. RIP.

In memory of our friend and colleague Mick O’Neill, who died this day last year. I’d give anything for him to be in the passenger seat telling me how to drive again.

Gosh - a friend showed me Bluesky there…what an absolute sewer of hate. No wonder X is so much nicer now - they’ve all gone to Bluesky to spew their hate in an echo chamber. Off with them, I say!

Some political trivia from my old stomping ground. In the 1960s, Stormont's only Liberal Party MP made history by tabling (without success) legislation to outlaw religious and racial discrimination in housing and employment. Her name: Sheelagh Murnaghan. Dermot Murnaghan's aunt.
