🚨India is a capital of untreated diabetics! India has the highest global number of adults living with untreated diabetes. Over 212 million adults in India had diabetes in 2022, with treatment rates remaining low. ▶️Diabetes is a lifestyle disease that can be caused by factors like 🩺Diet high in carbohydrate&processed foods, 🩺Sedentary lifestyle 🩺Lack of physical activity 🩺Irregular sleep patterns 🩺Stress levels 🩺Genetic predisposition ▶️One of the most concerning issues is the lack of awareness about diabetes. So many of people with diabetes don’t even know they have it. ▶️The gap in awareness is especially wide in rural areas and among people with lower incomes, who often have less access to information and healthcare resources ▶️What can we do? 🔸Nutrition literacy especially among young adults and behavioural nudges to change dietary preferences 🔸Awareness camps and early education about lifestyle changes can play a huge role in preventing progression of pre-diabetes to type 2 diabetes 🔸Regular monitoring if u belong to the risk group 🔸Early diagnosis, which will prevent the progression of disease! ➡️Diabeties if not control can cause severe nerve issues, blindness and leg amputation as well. ➡️We have been working really very hard on raising awareness against this lifestyle disease. ➡️Access to diabetes care and education is an important step to address this issue!! ➡️Diabetes is a silent crisis with serious consequences. It’s a health challenge that impacts our economy, workforce, and society as a whole.
