@Ansarii_rahim If you understand how powerful and effective the F-35 is, you’ll see why this is a big deal for them. The F-35 is essentially untouchable and widely considered the most advanced stealth fighter in the world.

@InvertedToaster Well said! I hated how I sounded. It made me cringe and feel embarrassed for some reason. Now I just view it as an instrument and I have more control and understanding of it. You begin to appreciate it after some time!

Almost EVERYONE hates their own voice when they first start out - it’s easy to focus on the qualities you don’t like, but it’s super important to know that you WILL improve with practice! Everyone’s vocal palette is uniquely their own, it just takes some time to make it shine~💪

@TreWatsonMusic Right? 50% of talent is "actually trying to the point that you attempt to get better over time instead of just being mad that you are not instantly great". haha

This dude thinks talent means you’re good at something without trying. Brother 90% of the time talent just means you like something enough that you get an interest.
🇯🇲NEJ The Great👑🇯🇲@NEJTheGreat

@FabvLMusic Talented people will never understand those who have no talent. No one is saying that you didn't work hard, but you also need to understand that just working hard won't make you good at something if you didn't already have tbe talent for it

The only time I have ever messaged someone about a role I submitted to is when they contacted me first and initiate hiring language. The client laid out rates to which I agreed and said they wanted me for the role. Even then, it is after waiting some time and only to make sure I did not miss something because it came across as if they had already hired me. Miscommunication happens sometimes. We just move on. That being said, never pester a CD about an audition you submitted. You are not entitled to know their decisions. If you got the role, they will let you know. There are usually hundreds of people auditioning for the same role. Sometimes there are THOUSANDS of people trying out for the same thing if the audition is very public. The amount of time it takes to go over auditions multiple times and then make a decision is, well, long. These folks do not have the kind of time you think they do in order to converse with you and hundreds of other people about why they were not chosen. Booking is hard. It really is. It often times doesn't even have anything to do with you or your performance if you do not get booked for a gig. You could be fantastic - they could agree that you are fantastic - and it still goes to someone else because the end client likes them more or you sound like someone's ex. Remember - it isn't that they did not pick you - it is that someone else just fit what they needed differently. You will submit thousands and thousands of auditions in VO. If you are in the elite, top of the industry - you will not receive any kind of response on 95% of those auditions. That is not an exaggeration. A 5% booking rate - 1 in 20 - is ELITE. Don't fret and stay the course. Oh, and leave these poor CD's alone!

I understand the feeling of not being chosen. However one thing I will say that stands out is this; don’t EVER call the main company and demand updates on your audition. You are not entitled to know early decisions, follow the required rules of the audition if there even was one. Most auditions for anime are in person ever since COVID ended so I’m a little lost by this tweet. They would already have your personal information on file.
eppy@epppyyy

I lost the role. This was something I had wanted for most of my life. I kept calling and reaching out for updates, hoping to hear something back, but today I found out they’ve moved forward without even responding to me. I truly lost the role. I’m honestly heartbroken.

@DritentVoicing Think you probably have an older SSL2+, unfortunately .. like a non-MKII model. You can get a high pass working but it would have to be a plugin in your DAW.

The Focusrite is basically the Lil Caesars of Audio Interfaces. NEVER SPEAK ILL OF IT. It's affordable, works, will serve most VAs well. I will recommend, for a slightly higher price, consider the SSL2! Slightly better quality (imo), lower noise, plus the ability to XLR Split!

The Trap 🚨🇮🇷 The Iranian regime has released footage of underground naval tunnels packed with fast-attack boats, anti-ship missiles, and naval mines. Something tells me they did not build this last week. The Islamic Republic has had forty years to prepare for this moment. Forty years of tunnels, proxies, missiles, and patience. And now the United States is being pulled deeper and deeper into exactly the war Iran’s strategists spent four decades designing. Jared Kushner thought they were not ready. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

Multiple reasons - Some people don't want to pay regular voice actors going rates so they find folks on YouTube willing to work for pennies because they do not know any better / YouTubers have large subscriber bases that directors feel will convert to views for their projects / some of them are actually pretty good actors. My only issue with it is when you have someone on a project simply because they have a big channel and they don't have the slightest clue about how to produce clean audio or even how to act, haha.

@micunninghamvo I gave it away to someone who was wanting to play with it, never did hear back if they got it working. I was gifted a USB C Rode NT1 and I just use it direct to Reaper with my MacBook when I travel. It sounds better and cleaner than any of the travel kits I’ve used.

You want to buy an interface for VO but you cannot afford an Apollo and don't want to settle for junk? Here is a little known interface that does 80% of what an Apollo with plugins can get you for $350. The MikeHero DSP. It will blow your mind. Bonus - it runs on Mac and PC and is the size of a credit card for travel and is made by a small business. No, I don't get any kickbacks, I just legit love this thing.

@micunninghamvo Mm, tried everything, but it seemed to add more noise? even when following instructions to a letter. I’m very auditory sensitive, so I hear everything 😅 I usually just say I had a dud one, as I know a number of folks who had ones that worked. It was just a strange experience

Just to interject - my perspective is from voice acting alone, not music. So take it with a grain of salt. The equipment we need is kind of specialized for the type and quality of audio we have to deliver. That is why I would always recommend something with a built in high-pass over a scarlet, every time. For raw audio, there is no way to overcome the kind of rumble that can remove in a beginner space.

@micunninghamvo @TreWatsonMusic like if the focusrite bundle is on sale at the right time? fuck it go for it, get to creating and once you know what you need you can shift your focus to the gear that will serve you best, the experience you get creating for the few years before it gives out is worth it imo

No shade here and from just a VO perspective. Focusrites are "FINE" for 2-3 years until they start buzzing or outright stop working. Seen way too many people have theirs just straight up die or pollute their audio without them even knowing it. For ~200 bucks, my money is on an SSL2. For ~350 bucks, a used Apollo Solo from a reputable seller or a MikeHero DSP.
Tre Watson: Nerd Music and more@TreWatsonMusic

Professional Engineer here, I mix for a lot of folks in the scene. I love Dahl. So there's no drama. That said: I disagree, Focusrites are FINE. you can do way worse. but, they're "just ok". I WILL say, the UA Volts are goated. and at a really close price point.

The early ones had some poor tuning. Fixed now. I don't use much of the settings other than a light setting on the noise filter. The other part is that you have to calibrate it for your environment every time you plug it in - so if you didn't set that properly for the noise floor of that moment, it can have some bad outcomes.

@micunninghamvo I had one of these for a bit. Either I had a dud, or it just did too much compression etc to the audio. Been playing with a USB Rode NT1 5th gen that just plugs direct into my m1 chip laptop. A clean solution with nothing to complicate. Its been nice.
