Honestly I understand the recruiter but I think he's allowing his personal bias to interfere with professionalism.
I personally see people who don't have their life figured out yet who set up high WhatsApp privacy settings including no read receipts as ediots. But I wouldn't judge an applicant based on that.
Who else noticed that he was tweaking the read receipt settings as the interaction progressed? Honestly, there are some things you shouldn't do when you're still broke, the stupidest ones are young girls in their 20s who implement these settings on their WhatsApp, no DP, disappearing messages, no read receipts, by the time you figure out that this is why nobody takes you serious and you're doing yourself it will be too late.
Anyways, like I said, the recruiter allowed his personal sentiments to supersede professionalism.
