A little shamrock science for St Patrick’s Day. ☘️ ☘️ The botanist Carl von Linné in his 1737 work Flora Lapponica identifies the shamrock as Trifolium pratense, mentioning it by name as Chambroch.

Great to have a few days of Making Sense with Science workshops running this week. These workshops supported by the RTE Toy Show Appeal explore science, disinformation and misinformation. Huge interest in this area from schools and groups which is really heartening.

85% said activities changed their view of science and what it might mean for their future. Thank you all so much for sharing your curiosity with us and huge thanks to all of our funders and trustees who are vital to everything that we do.

We got to present papers on our work at European level, got shortlisted for national awards and most of all, we continued to see curiosity and creativity grow among our participants. 90% of those surveyed in 2025 rated activities as excellent.

Thanks so much to everyone for all their support in 2025, we hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to exploring lots more science with you in 2026. We have some new programmes coming up next year so stay tuned.
