Era um país com qualidade de vida em um nível próximo ao do 1º Mundo e com um futuro brilhante. Mas então veio Hugo Chávez, com o seu socialismo revolucionário bolivariano, que mergulhou o país no caos e na miséria. Hoje, a Venezuela tem o 3º menor PIB per capita das Américas, à frente apenas da Bolívia e da Nicarágua. Com as maiores reservas de petróleo do mundo e com o regime chavista dando sinais claros de abertura e fragmentação, as portas estão abertas para uma nova fase de redemocratização e de parceria com o Ocidente, afastando-se do socialismo e das ditaduras representadas por Rússia, China, Irã e Cuba. Ainda há muito caminho pela frente, mas o primeiro passo já foi dado para uma Venezuela finalmente livre e desenvolvida. Será que chegará o dia em que nós, brasileiros, teremos inveja dos venezuelanos?
