There's been countless tournaments where Black Stars' preparation and participation expenditures exceeded the ultimate prize money. We were made to believe putting Ghana's name on the global stage alone was not monetarily quantifiable. It opens up future investment opportunities.
Raymond Nyamador@raymondnyamador

It is ONLY in Ghana that we think investment in sports must end up as sunk cost. We think sports business must run like a charity institution. The reason why there is no money for all other sport disciplines but the Black Stars. They remain our most profitable “sports investment”

In 2021, USA passed a $1.2 trillion bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act aiming to upgrade roads, bridges, public transit, and internet access. How are we 69 years and the only true motorway we have in the country is only 19km? How? That's not how nations are built.

🌍🚨| 𝗟𝗔 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗕𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗗𝗘𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗨𝗫 !

Sometimes I really run short of negative adjectives to describe Ghana. But what a disgrace, what a shame. We have so many institutions, with nothing to show for. These institutions are headed by uninspiring, belly thinking, little people who earn a fuck ton of money for nothing. All they do is think of new ways to rob the people blind through useless policies and wasteful initiatives.

I WITNESSED THAT INCIDENT LIKE A MOVIE… May 9th 2001, It was Wednesday, I was one of the Boys that sell “Pure Water” Outside the Accra Sports Stadium, Every Match, After selling, We beg those in Queue to Take us into the stadium, So a stranger would hold your Hand and take you along as his/her Child, Because as street kid we couldn’t Afford the Gate fee for Stadium Matches, so that was the Tactics Every Osu Street Kid was using to sneak into the stadium for Matches back then, But On that Faithful Day, Me and My Friends didn’t get anyone to sneak us into the stadium, Everyone was busy in the queue, Yeah it was a Super Clash match Between Kotoko and Hearts, so the tension was very high, Even those with money were struggling to Buy Tickets And those with tickets were struggling to enter, So nobody was willing to carry us along into the stadium, Everywhere was tight.. We stayed outside for very long time, And the match was already kicked Off. From outside we were hearing the Screams and the Noise when a team scored, And Man I was deeply in Pain Because I was missing All the Actions in the stadium, I was only hearing the Noise from the Spectators and Only Seeing the Scores on the Scoreboard from Outside, But We Didn’t Leave, We were Still At the Entrance, And Still Hoping that Someone would have mercy on us and take us in, Or Maybe wait for the usual last 10-15mins Free Gate, So we were still waiting .. But like Some minutes later, We were hearing Strange Noise, People were Shouting, very loud screaming, This time it wasn’t looking like a Jubilation, It was a Strong Noise with Vibration, Later We saw People Jumping from the Top Last stand and landing at the Ground, very Risky thing to do, And that was when we Realized that something serious was going on in the stadium, Later we saw Many People Running out of the stadium and some where even forcing to Pass through the tiny Exit Gate, We heard some of them saying in Ga; “Amɛ twa tear Gas! Police biɛ Etwa Tear Gas!” Some too were saying in twi; “ Mo jwani! Omu Etu Gate num! Policefuo nu Etoto Etuo!!” They were making those comments in Fear and aggressiveness and you could feel that in their Voice. We Those Outside the stadium saw the Danger Early and so we were able to run away for Our lives. I Got Home And the Breaking News Were All the TV Stations, By Evening I was Hearing that Over 100 People have been k!led in the Stadium Disaster. I remember my Dad Wanted to beat the Hell Out of Me for going to the Stadium, But My Uncle Stopped him and asked him to Cook Egg for me Rather. I Don’t normally talk about this Incident, because it still gives me nightmares, No matter how hard I try to ignore it, it still smells fresh in my memories.. It was a very Bad Experience For me As a Child. After the Disaster, I Stopped Going to the Accra Stadium for so many Years, It was (Shatta Wale Vrs Samini’s Guinness Eruption Concert) that made me entered Accra Sports stadium Again after the May 9th Incident.. Do you know what made it worse for me? I Personally know People in my Hood, From James Town, Abola to Bukom who were Victims of this Tragedy! I know two men who passed away in the May 9th stadium disaster, leaving their Wives and children behind, because of the love of Football.. May their Souls Continue Rest in Peace 🕊️ 🙏 I Will go into my Grave with this incident Forever Sticking in my mind.. MAY 9TH STADIUM DISASTER, NEVER AGAIN!!! 💔💔💔

Carlos Queiroz is the latest name to take up the mantle of Black Stars head coach under GFA boss Kurt Okraku. How did his predecessors fare? And how do they compare with those who were in charge under Kwesi Nyantakyi? #CitiSports #CitiFM #ChannelOneTV #BlackStars
