@presbyterianpew That makes sense and my assumption that new people wouldn’t subscribe to Canon+ for KDY, but existing users would be exposed to him was probably a bit naive. In short: generally speaking, turning KDY fans to Canon+ would be bad. Turning Canon+ fans to KDY would be good.

@mikeeternal I wouldn't want there to be an appearance of cooperation between a PCA pastor and Canon+ and I wouldn't want KDY's material to help bring in revenue for Canon+. That audience still has access to his materials, just not in a way that contributes to building their empire.

@PastorRyanA @realmattcarr Depending on context, those ranges could shift or broaden. For example, if your church has a large number of snowbirds or college students, that could impact things.

What percentage of the total membership of a church should the average attendance at that church be in today's America? 80%? More? Less?

@realmattcarr @PastorRyanA Are you factoring in visitors and regular attenders who are not yet members? For our church, it's closer to 90% for that reason.

@PastorRyanA 80% seems reasonable More seems like you don't have homebound and people never leave town or get sick. Less and you have members who aren't membering.

Welcome to the world, Shepherd Isaac Anderson. Born at 6 a.m. on January 1, Shepherd is our first baby of 2026 at the University of Michigan Health-West Childbirth Center. He weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 19½ inches long. Congratulations to proud parents Jenn and Mike!

@andy_schreiber @mikecavmusic @irishpresby I don’t love that they directed people to past services, though, as an alternative to attending corporate worship somewhere.

@andy_schreiber @mikecavmusic @irishpresby Disappointing, maybe? If it were a place where the PCA was the only faithful church nearby, then definitely! But it’s usually a blessing to be able to worship with another faithful congregation (PCA or not) every once in a while.

PCA ministers must not deliberately skip Lord's Day worship. Why are these men still allowed to hold their ministerial credentials in the PCA?

@mikecavmusic @irishpresby In short, I’m wondering if this is an issue of content (worship at a different location than normal is not allowed), or merely one of how they communicated it. (This is assuming that they are having a corporate worship service at the retreat, which I do not know for sure.)

@mikecavmusic @irishpresby Would it be an issue for you if this church held its corporate worship service at the retreat instead of at their building? Those at the retreat would still be gathering for corporate worship and those not at the retreat are still being encouraged to attend a local church.
