It’s with a heavy heart I have to tell you Mike sadly passed away yesterday afternoon. He suffered serious complications during transplant surgery on Monday. It was a battle even he couldn’t win. We were all with him yesterday when they turned off his life support. 1/2

We had an update on Mike’s condition from the consultant yesterday afternoon after a long wait and were able to see him in ITU for a while last night. Thank you for all your messages. I will try to post again later on. Matt

Mike is out of theatre and now on ITU. The transplant itself went well but he had a few complications during surgery. Tracey has been to see him and says he’s fighting hard. We’ll know more in the next 12-24 hours. Sorry for the late update. Keep Mike in your prayers. Matt

The lungs were removed from the donor this morning and Mike is currently in theatre having transplant surgery, which is expected to take up to 7 hours. Think positive thoughts for Mike today. He’s in the best possible place and I will keep you updated. Matt 2/2

Hi everyone. I’m Matt - Mike’s brother. As you may know, Mike has been poorly recently and been on the double lung transplant list for some time. Last night, a suitable match was found and he immediately travelled to Harefield Hospital with his wife Tracey. 1/2

It’s interesting to see all of the people clamoring for features of regulation in the NFT space (like any recourse when something is stolen) the last few days, while being staunchly against regulation. This is what happens. Greed always wins without any controls against it.

@MarkSailes3 Utilise who we have access to. This road will have been trodden before so ask what went well and what didn’t. That’s what I love about being where we are. Everyone is happy to talk and share learnings.

@MarkSailes3 But I would also seek the inputs of a few others and create a template out of all the feedback. We know we get better results from varied inputs, so don’t just go on what I say 😂

@MarkSailes3 Someone needs to own the situation. Determine the roles needed for a successful result and delegate. Be the leading light and create & lead the team. One big blocker is often confusion, as long as everyone knows who is doing what and who to escalate/report up to the rest works.

@MarkSailes3 Always the hard part when it’s your “baby” to hand over the controls to someone else, but it’s the right way to move. I also stayed fairly close and still had a foot in the door with the team so knew where things were at.

@MarkSailes3 Yes, was technical lead on a few projects and had to handover so I could take on other work etc. Also as a mechanism for scale, I didn’t want to be the blocker so scaling out (by delegation etc.) was the best solution.
