Americans should not be forced to breathe hazardous air year after year because Canada refuses to properly manage its forests. This is no longer a one-time emergency—it’s becoming an annual public health crisis. That is unacceptable. I am reaching out to Members of Parliament and the Canadian Ambassador to demand answers about the devastating impact Canada’s forest management failures are having on Western New York, the Southern Tier, and communities across the United States. Millions of Americans are paying the price for policies they had no role in creating. We can all accept that nature is unpredictable. But repeated failures to reduce wildfire risk and manage forests responsibly are a policy choice. The United States cannot continue accepting dangerous air quality every summer as the new normal. Canada must take meaningful action to prevent these catastrophic wildfires and protect both Canadians and Americans. If it refuses to do so, there should be consequences. Our citizens should not be forced to suffer because another nation’s government failed to do its job.

If Poilievre was elected instead of Carney one year ago, today: -Canada Post would have lost the exact same amount, the CEO would have gotten the exact same bonus. -The number of immigrants in Canada would be virtually the exact same -The wildfires would be identical -The lines at the food bank, the grocery inflation, and the price of gas would be the same -The cost of meals to fly the PM, his entourage, committees, media, dignitaries, etc would be the same -The GDP per capita would be the same. -The amount of Oil and Gas being produced would be the exact same. -Your day to day life wouldn't change. -Justin Trudeau would still be dancing with Katy Perry, and RW Influencers would still be posting about him, daily.

@FreyaAndHerCats @canadarescue401 It hasn't been.. I lived in Northwestern Ontario growing up.. It's been since they stopped clearing dead brush and debris that the fires have gotten worse.. That said, it's more than just the Feds... Provinces need to step up too.

Thank you for being one of the few Canadians on this platform who acknowledges that your government doesn’t do its job. I’m almost 50 and have lived in Minnesota my entire life- there are Canadians on here trying to gaslight me into agreeing that it’s always been like this in the summer.

The Americans are furious with Canada’s piss poor fire management and I don’t blame them. Mark carney is all around a failure and nothing about Canada is better under his leadership.

@thereds8 Forest management has gone downhill.. Usually dead undergrowth is cleared out. Had been for years. In the last 10 or 20, that hasn't been the case. Basically more kindling for fires to spread.

I don’t ever remember air quality being bad in Toronto due to fires. Not once growing up. It’s only been the last four years. Something very sinister is happening each summer.
