In the shadowed hallways of collegiate basketball, there lies a monster – one of corruption and avarice. Today, it was Kansas men’s basketball that stepped into the harsh spotlight, a byproduct of the sordid 2017 federal probe into the sport. Charged with five Level I violations — the gravest in the NCAA's arsenal — Kansas found itself ensnared in a controversy that included allegations of lost control and the startling evidence that head coach Bill Self turned a blind eye to pay-for-play schemes. While other schools took decisive actions, removing head coaches, Kansas opted for symbolic gestures. A paltry four-game suspension was handed to Bill Self and assistant Kurtis Townsend, barely a hiccup in the grand scheme. The NCAA's tepid response further underscores its burgeoning image as a toothless overseer. It neither reprimanded Kansas effectively nor met the public's expectations for accountability. It seems both Bill Self and Kansas will escape further sanctions. For those familiar with the NCAA’s track record, this will come as no surprise. Consider the recent treatment of the University of North Carolina, where basketball players took fake classes, and skipped or plagiarized in real ones. Instead of penalties, the basketball team found itself awash in confetti as national champions. Contrast the handling of UNC and Kansas with others who've faced stricter consequences for lesser offenses. For instance, when an Indiana basketball coach overstepped phone call limits to recruits, the NCAA swiftly imposed scholarship cuts and recruiting constraints. But powerhouses like UNC and Kansas? Their missteps are met with murmurs, lost in a chorus of undeserved praise. The NCAA stands exposed — an entity devoid of both moral spine and meaningful direction. By silently condoning such deceit, it cripples its own stature. This isn't just oversight—it's a dereliction of duty that looms ominously over the institution and the very essence of collegiate sports. In the NCAA, cheating is okay.

Going to Dallas with the wife for a few days. I’ve already seen the JFK stuff. Anything else you guys recommend as can’t miss? Include eats. I’m hungry just thinking about all the good places there. Thanks!
