Never forget why you sleep peacefully, Europe!

Oggi è un giorno triste per chi fa analisi sportive. FBref chiude, e il motivo è semplice quanto amaro: Opta non è più d’accordo con l’utilizzo che FBref faceva dei suoi dati. La perdita è enorme. FBref non era solo un sito di statistiche: era una fonte straordinaria, accessibile, gratuita, che permetteva analisi avanzate anche a chi non aveva budget o accessi privilegiati. Più della metà della comunità che lavora (o cresce) sull’analisi calcistica è stata toccata direttamente da questa decisione. Era uno strumento democratico, nel senso più concreto del termine. Ed è difficile non collegare questa chiusura a una questione di soldi. Proprio in questi giorni è uscito un comunicato che chiarisce molto bene la direzione del mercato: Stats Perform — casa madre di Opta — è diventata il distributore ufficiale dei dati FIFA per gli operatori di scommesse a livello globale, con diritti esclusivi su Mondiali, competizioni giovanili e migliaia di partite. Dati ultrarapidi, streaming ufficiali, modelli per il betting: tutto blindato, tutto licenziato. Il messaggio è chiaro. I dati non sono più pensati come uno strumento di conoscenza diffusa, ma come un asset commerciale ad alto valore, destinato principalmente al mondo delle scommesse. In questo contesto, un progetto come FBref — aperto, gratuito, usato per analisi indipendenti — diventa non solo scomodo, ma incompatibile. La cosa più triste non è solo la chiusura in sé, ma ciò che rappresenta: un’analisi sempre più elitaria, recintata, dove l’accesso passa dal portafoglio e non dalla competenza. Oggi perdiamo un pezzo fondamentale dell’ecosistema dell’analisi calcistica. E non è un bel segnale.

Comunque questa cosa dei fascisti che odiano la ecologista Greta Thunbetg ma amano alla follia quegli squinternati bucolici della casa nel bosco me la dovete spiegare
