As a landlord who owns multiple properties, tenants don't understand what we go through. If you stay at home all day you're going to use the floor, switches, toilets, kitchen more which increases the maintenance that needs to be done and the apartment ages twice as quickly.

My parents keep telling me to just break my apartment lease and not pay bc there’s a bad mold problem. My dad said he had to do it several times in his youth and it was fine. I asked if it was before credit scores and they shut up after that.

The FICO credit score was introduced in 1989. The average Boomer was around 35 then, which means many of them bought their first homes and cars before an imaginary three-digit number had such a huge impact on their lives. They really did pull the ladder up behind them.
