It seems following some competition rules, many artists have been tracing poseable models instead of just using them as reference in their work, and some of them have also been angry at 'normies/their audience' for actively disliking this process.
Your audience can be upset that an artist they support is taking shortcuts, which they had assumed were in fact developed skills.
Many feel they support the 'hard work' and skill of the creative person and are disappointed to discover they 'cut corners'.
it's a very common mindset.
My IMO - There's almost no right or wrong way to make art. But there are people who are honest and open about the methods they employ✅, and then there are people who are not, or lie by omission❌.
This will affect your audience expectations & how people react to discovering what you do. It's up to you!
