On the 7th of April 1944, 80 years ago, Alfred Wetzler and Rudi Vrba went into their hiding place in #auschwitzbirkenau. Three days later they escaped and managed to get to #Zilina, where my mother, Dr Gertrud Friedmann, then 15, brought them food. Here she recalls what happened.
Today we mark the 81st anniversary of the first deportation of the Jews from Thessaloniki to Auschwitz. I am standing at the old train station from where the train left and read an extract from my interview with Palomba Alaluf (Florentin) in her memory.
I recently found two bank deposit books, which each had a receipt inside. The receipt shows that my mother’s aunts, two young Jewish women from #Kezmarok in Slovakia, had to pay for their deportation to Auschwitz and Lublin. On this #HMD2024 I remember Berta and Gisela Winter.

Something different for today: A new song released by my son #BenjiMiller, his debut single 'Show me Love'. Enjoy! open.spotify.com/track/2q8HHjyH…

Happy my interview with Prof. Ludwik Finkelstein helped @Dannythefink to write his father‘s story in his wonderful new book published next week.
