I’m grateful to share the remarkable story told by my wife Dr Bea Lewkowicz, featuring my mother in law Dr Gertrud Friedmann on the 80th anniversary of the Wetzler-Vrba escape.

On the 7th of April 1944, 80 years ago, Alfred Wetzler and Rudi Vrba went into their hiding place in #auschwitzbirkenau. Three days later they escaped and managed to get to #Zilina, where my mother, Dr Gertrud Friedmann, then 15, brought them food. Here she recalls what happened.
