Gmonad 8 days into the @monad_xyz testnet and I've been grinding non stop to leave my mark on the blockchain. I created a token called meownad. I have been brainstorming use cases for the meow token, i started creating 3D prototypes for a video game i was thinking of building then nostalgia hit me while playing a game. Why not build a pixel retro inspired games that let players earn meow token while interacting with the blockchain? The journey has been intense as a solo developer doing it all alone but I never quit. My first prototype is below, which i temporarily named ''Jumping Nad'' cause bad at naming things. Let's me give you the tea on what happened cause this isn’t an everyday hack, it’s a major event that shook web3. So what went down? February 21-2025, @Bybit_Official one of the top crypto exchanges out here found itself in the middle of a massive security breach. It's a routine turned rogue, the hack happened during a standard fund transfer from Bybit’s secure, offline cold wallet to its more accessible warm wallet. Sounds simple, right? But here’s the sneaky twist Hackers manipulated the transaction interface tricking the system into authorising a transfer that shouldn’t have happened. The result? Roughly 401,000+ ETH worth about $1.5 billion vanished into an unknown wallet. Who’s behind this? Well, i don’t where to point finger but here is the rumor. base on early investigations fingers are pointing towards a sophisticated group with blockchain analytics hinting at ties to the notorious Lazarus Group yes, that same group known for previous high stakes crypto heists. How did @Bybit_Official handle this? Now, you might wonder, “How will bybit recover from something like this?” The exchange didn’t sit around, it move quickly into action with these key moves → Rapid Reassurance Bybit’s CEO, @benbybit quickly stepped in to calm the waters. He made it clear despite the hack, every client’s asset is fully backed on a 1:1 basis. That means you can still trust your funds even if a hefty sum was diverted. He hosted a live stream to answer all questions and made all information about hack public data for full transparency. 12 hour after the hack, bybit withdraw system was fully back to normal pace and users can withdraw any amount without any delays → Team up with the Experts The exchange teamed up with top blockchain security experts and law enforcement agencies to trace the stolen funds and find the culprits behind this audacious move. → Bounty Program to the Rescue Bybit launched a recovery bounty program, offering up to 10% of any recovered amount to ethical hackers willing to help track down and reclaim the stolen ETH. Turning a crisis into a community powered recovery mission Why Should You Care? Whether you’re an active trader, a casual observer or a newbie in web3 space. You need to understand that security is paramount in web3, even major exchanges can fall prey to attacks. Always be aware of where your assets are stored and the security measures in place.
