@quibbleess this! a throwaway line about their sexuality is not representation. I even had a book recommended to me in which the sexuality wasn’t even mentioned on page; the author made a post after the book was published to say actually, the mc is queer. okay? then why isn’t it in the book

@RenardReads If the bissexuality of the character has nothing to do with the plot or the character's personality then it's not rep. I'm bissexual and putting a character there saying she had a girlfriend once then proceeding with the m/f romance does shit to representing bissexuals.

Queer book discourse is willfully lacking nuance atp. Yes, bi MCs are 100% queer rep, even in m/f relationships (or no relationship). But y'all have GOT to stop acting like you don't comprehend what ppl want when they specifically request lesbain/sapphic//gay/achillian recs. 1/
