'FINALLY THERE IS NOW A ₱33.5-B METRO CEBU INTEGRATED FLOOD CONTROL AND DRAINAGE SYSTEM MASTER PLAN'?
The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) under then-Secretary Michael Dino expressed gratitude to then–Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar for approving major infrastructure projects aimed at easing Metro Cebu's flooding and traffic problems.
In a Facebook post dated August 24, 2017, OPAV recalled that it was in July 2016 when Dino invited Villar to help address the region's long-standing flood woes. A year later, the Metro Cebu Integrated Flood Control and Drainage System Master Plan was approved, with ₱33.5 billion earmarked for infrastructure requirements.
"Finally there is now a Metro Cebu Integrated Flood Control and Drainage System Master Plan and 33.5 Billion pesos for the infrastructure budget requirements is on its way," the post read.
Dino also announced the approval of another project lobbied by OPAV — the Guadalupe-Lahug Diversion Road, designed to ease congestion in key areas of Cebu City.
"Wait, there is more," the post added. "Aside from the flood control project we are so glad that a new infrastructure project we lobbied has been approved the Guadalupe-Lahug Diversion Road. Thank you Sec. Mark Villar.."
