SeedEtcher b0.3 just cut the workflow in half. Transfer both sides. Etch both sides. Seed + descriptor backups in steel. Faster and fully reproducible.

@BitcoinAnja @MarkOfBitcoin @mineracks Highly recommend, high signal! My class with Piers in 2023 has been the most valuable lesson I’ve had in the space in 12 years. You don’t know what you don’t know.

We frequently hear that 1st part from people who are new to SeedSigner. The project is still one of the best kept secrets in bitcoin b/c we don't have an army of influencers & podcasters shilling it. The kind of workshop he mentions is many people's 1st touchpoint w/ SeedSigner.

Here’s my honest review of @mineracks for anyone curious about what to expect: On Friday, I had a half-day mentoring session with Piers, and it was incredibly valuable. We covered far more ground than I thought possible: 👉 All wallets, pros and cons, trade-offs, and risks (from “trust me bro” to paranoia-grade cypherpunk). 👉 Risks of being connected to the internet, Bluetooth, USB cables, etc. 👉 Single-sig + passphrase vs. multisig... pros, cons, risks. 👉 All backup solutions: types, where to hide them, and where to “back up” the backup. 👉 Attacks: dark skippy, nonce attack, wrench attack, retirement attack. 👉 Using SeedSigner + Entropia + coin flips (including the “why”: elliptic curve cryptography, the maths behind generating 11 words via Entropia and the 12th word via a coin flip 7 times). 👉 Hashing in depth. 👉 Public address vs. extended public address. 👉 More complex math. 😂 👉 Difficulty adjustment and proof of work. 👉 Address types and the technology bell curve. 👉 Deep dive into Sparrow, transactions, and UTXOs (including high-level taxation tips, not advice, but how to label and manage UTXOs). 👉 How to make the SeedSigner even more secure. I got so much out of it. The session was self-paced, interactive, and never intimidating or overwhelming. Piers has a real gift for teaching, explaining complex concepts in a way that makes them approachable and practical. I left feeling empowered to operate on a cypherpunk DIY level. Next session, we’ll cover: 👉 Deepening my hands-on experience with multisig, backup, and recovery. 👉 Privacy tools. 👉 Adopting Bitcoin into @honestmoneyshow to help transition it to a fully Bitcoin standard. Hands down, this has been the best thing I’ve done this year. It was a powerful reminder of just how much of a F*CK YOU money Bitcoin truly is, the clarity I needed to see in this bear market. I’m also really proud to have Mineracks as a sponsor of Honest Money, because it’s important for me to partner with people whose service I truly trust and can stand behind. I will say it helped that I’d read B is for Bitcoin beforehand. Even though I didn’t retain all of it, the concepts were stored in my memory and may have helped me absorb the breadth of material we covered. Your experience may vary, you might get through less, or even more, depending on your preparation, but it is absolutely worth it. The session was very agnostic in approach, and I felt fully in control of my learning throughout. Hope this helps! 😊

SeedEtcher v0.3.0b just dropped. 1) Major workflow update: SeedEtcher Transfer Stack allows to transfer both sides at once. You can now etch both sides simultaneously. 2) New plate layouts optimized for etching. Custom SeedEtcher rounded stencil font. Circle module QR style. Masked area now extends to 100x90mm. You only need to mask one side now before etching. This saves etchant solution. 3) UR/XOR descriptor shares. No single plate contains the full descriptor. Supported for 1/2, 2/2, 2/3, 3/4, 4/4, 3/5 and n-1/n. Other multisig policies output the full descriptor per plate. 4) Print options: 600/1200dpi, mirrored and inverted for test prints 5) Support of all Brother lasers, including host based printers (HBP). HBP is an on demand runtime that can be loaded. PCL/PS supported for all other printers. 6) Optional etch-stats page, for folks who want to try electro etching. Grab it here: github.com/cmyk/seedetche…

I was one of the early users of the Internet back in 1993, I've been part of 3 tech companies that exited, and helped another 4 achieve exits. I've personally seen close to 1000 different technology ideas pitched over a 20 year period. But nothing, including the Internet comes remotely close to Bitcoin and Bitcoin mining, which are by some distance the most innovative and promising technologies for humanity in the last 100 years. Nothing else comes remotely close. Bitcoin mining is incentivizing renewable energy, mitigating methane, stabilizing grids, obviating gas peaker plants around the world at a pace that almost no other climate technologies have been able to replicate even across one sector source: x.com/DSBatten/statu… Bitcoin's usecases are not simply about more efficiency convenience or faster commerce, but existential need: it is already helping 100s of millions of people around the world who before bitcoin were stuck with high inflation and hyperinflation, unbanked, or lived in autocratic regimes source: x.com/DSBatten/statu… Bitcoin is also the first technology I've ever seen that helps the Global South first, the West second (which is why so many in the West don't see it's utility: ie, a lack of empathy and imagination on the part of the evaluator, not a lack of value in Bitcoin) It's the most inspirational technology I've seen in 20 years of technology investment by some distance across a range of social and environmental metrics. But, as with all other disruptive technologies, you'll unthinkingly retort things that make you look stupid in years to come if your source of information on Bitcoin is either : a. the media (who have a 100% perfect track-record of dismissing every disruptive technology since the Telegraph) b. other people who have also not used or researched Bitcoin (of which a. above is a subset) The predominant media narratives on Bitcoin typically have only one common denominator: stupidity. As soon as one stupid narrative fails ("will use all the world's energy", a new stupid narrative like "uses a swimming pool of water" is already in the queue to replace it. Once that is debunked, another stupid narrative will replace that. The narratives are never true, but they are funny, and they do fool people tend to have poor filters for information quality. Would you have been one of the laggards who trusted the opinions of others about the Internet who had never used it, or would you have talked to people who used it and then tried it yourself? Rather than digesting new flavors of stupid from the media and others who have never used Bitcoin, you could try this crazy wacky idea: listen to the opinions of people who have used actually Bitcoin and know something about it. Paul Krugman saying "The Internet will be no more valuable than the fax machine" in 2005 was a statement about the value of his opinion, not the value of the Internet Similarly, the opinions of those who have never studied, never used, or have a vested interest in opposing Bitcoin are a statement about the value of their opinions, not the value of Bitcoin. Onwards!

The Sydney Bitcoin Hub—Australia’s first dedicated Bitcoin coworking and event space—opens tonight in Milsons Point (20 Cliff St, 6pm). Physical hubs like this strengthen local Bitcoin communities, foster collaboration, and support the industry’s real‑world footprint. If you’re in Sydney, drop by. If you’re elsewhere, watch for similar hubs emerging. 👀
