@UnearthedHQ A dugout canoe discovered at the Kuahuqiao site in Zhejiang Province, China, dates back approximately 8,000 years. The canoe is about 5.6 meters long and 52 centimeters at its widest point. Archaeologists found obvious signs of repair on the canoe.

Dating back over 4,000 years, the Lurgan Canoe stands as Ireland's oldest known boat—crafted around 2000 BCE and stretching an impressive 15 meters (49 feet). Discovered in 1901 within a bog in County Galway, its initially pale, ethereal surface quickly darkened when exposed to the air. Carved from a gigantic oak, larger than any currently found in Ireland, the canoe's location far from any major water source hints at a vastly different landscape and climate than we know today. Now housed in the National Museum in Dublin, this artifact from the Bronze Age encapsulates the essence of forgotten voyages—its hollow body serving as a reservoir of memories as much as a means to carry water.

The grand stone basins located at the Sun Temple of King Niuserre in Abu Ghurab, Egypt, have endured for more than 4,400 years, yet their true function eludes understanding. While it is widely accepted that they were associated with purification practices or offerings to the sun deity Ra, the specifics of their circular shape and distinctive characteristics provoke further inquiry. What accounts for their striking resemblance to high-pressure flanges found in contemporary engineering? Were these ancient constructs merely ceremonial basins, or might they have been integral to an intricate system that remains beyond our comprehension?

Two Ming Dynasty Hanfu FeiYuFu飞鱼服decorated of the flying dragon with fish tail.collected in the Confucius Mansion. This is the outfit seemingly worn by every Ming Dynasty imperial guard in TV dramas. but In reality the Feiyuffu ranked just below the mang蟒-pao(four-clawed dragon). During the Ming Dynasty, it could only be granted to favored ministers, imperial guards, and eunuchs by the emperor. By the middle—late Ming, dress regulations were no longer strictly enforced and many wealthy commoners or minor officials also began wearing it.

The weather remains quite poor here at times, but I managed to revisit Side this afternoon. Unfortunately, the Roman theatre is currently closed for restoration, with plans to reopen fully for cultural events. A person at the ticket booth mentioned it might take another five years to reopen. #ArchaeologyTravel —- Located on a small peninsula near modern Manavgat, the archaeological site of Side combines extensive ruins from the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods with a dramatic seaside setting. Side was founded by Greek settlers around the 7th century BC, though earlier Anatolian occupation is also attested. Its natural harbour made it a major trading hub in Pamphylia, linking the eastern and western Mediterranean. The city came under the control of Alexander the Great in 333 BC, after which it passed through the Hellenistic kingdoms before becoming part of the Roman Empire, reaching the height of its prosperity. During the Roman period, Side was renowned for its commercial wealth, derived from trade in goods such as olive oil, as well as for its involvement in the Mediterranean slave trade. From the 4th century AD onward, however, the city began to decline due to a combination of economic shifts, invasions, and natural disasters, eventually being largely abandoned by the early medieval period.
