@minijmins i understand, but is always a matter of wether he feels comfortable doing it or not. with Ilya he could just say what was on his mind, but wont do it around others. specialy bc of the Scot Hunter scene in specific, Shane wont take things to another level and never did.

@minijmins Yes exactly! I know someone like this who I smtimes assume doesn’t ‘get’ the joke, but then they perfectly explain it back to me and tell me why they choose to ignore it (the joke was dumb) 😭

@Pointerbrother i think sometimes he’s just above chirping (it’s not really his style the way it is part of ilya’s whole i’ll-rile-you-up-before-i-inevitably-win-and-make-you-hate-me game style) and he’s probably too focused on hockey anyway, like he said in ep 2 when asked to speak to the press

@minijmins Yeah, I just had another skim through a bunch of his interactions in the book and Ihis ability to read subtle cues seems perfectly average, if not above. He can definitely banter, he just gets too tense to do so or actively chooses not to a lot of the time

@minijmins Literally! He’s hilarious, him & Ilya both. Their humour is exactly like mine and I’ve noticed Rachel has also put all of her own quick witted dry humour into her books 😅 When people say Shane isn’t funny at all or have any personality I’m like huh? You must be boring af then🫢

@cascaotwink he knows how to chirp back though — look at his dialogue with ilya. i just think he doesn’t always care to, like he said in the locker room in ep 2 i think where he’s like “it doesn’t help me focus”. i could see him just being so concentrated on hockey that he doesn’t bother

@Pointerbrother i think among other players it might be easier for him bc then chirping is kind of expected — he struggles a little more when it’s other people or unfamiliar situations. it bothers me when people write him as an autistic person instead of a person who has autism. but i get you

@minijmins I actually get confused on how to characterise Shane bc there’s such a discrepancy between how different people interpret his character, esp with the autism and social cue thing. Bc smtimes he doesn’t pick up on subtle cues/humour and then other times he’s perfectly astute

@123Blurrr shane is absolutely the braver one. once he has accepted he wants ilya, he’s all in, and that continues into tlg, even if sometimes it may take him a while to get there :)

i need to talk about how ilya is the one who broke first in vegas because it’s ilya who followed shane into the bathroom, it’s ilya who couldn’t stay away and it’s ilya who invited shane to his room

@Sam_Bridge_HR what do you mean? i think it’s a huge testament to just how casual they were that half the time they spent in that bathroom they were just gazing at each other and talking softly. totally normal behavior between two rival star athletes if you ask me
