At #MiningIndaba2026 in Cape Town this morning, one truth keeps surfacing:
Africa has the minerals the world needs - platinum, cobalt, copper, lithium, rare earths - yet investment in African mining is falling.
This isn’t a geology problem. It’s a finance architecture problem.
Mining takes 10–15 years and patient capital. Without it, Africa exports raw minerals and buys back finished products at many times the price.
The demand is here. The moment is here.
Now Africa must build the finance institutions to turn underground wealth into shared prosperity.

Zambia 🇿🇲 has launched its first glucose and starch manufacturing plant by Trade Kings Group in Lusaka’s Multi-Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ).
The $110M facility will source 126,000 tons of maize annually from local farmers, strengthening agribusiness and value addition.
The plant is potentially Africa’s third-largest producer after Egypt and South Africa, supporting Zambia’s ongoing industrialization efforts.
