At #MiningIndaba2026 in Cape Town this morning, one truth keeps surfacing: Africa has the minerals the world needs - platinum, cobalt, copper, lithium, rare earths - yet investment in African mining is falling. This isn’t a geology problem. It’s a finance architecture problem. Mining takes 10–15 years and patient capital. Zambia 🇿🇲 has launched its first glucose and starch manufacturing plant by Trade Kings Group in Lusaka’s Multi-Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ). The $110M facility will source 126,000 tons of maize annually from local farmers, strengthening agribusiness and value addition. The plant is potentially Africa’s third-largest producer after Egypt and South Africa, supporting Zambia’s ongoing industrialization efforts.
