You completely nailed it. The engagement isn't dropping because of a lack of projects; it's dropping because the current fandom environment is exhausting.
A couple of months ago, I was out here on X actively fishing for translations, summarizing events, and grabbing updates so people who were working or busy actually had positive content to come home to. And what did I get? The "Veteran DJ Police" saying I was "doing too much," Like, I'm sorry for trying to keep the timeline alive and vibing while juggling my own heavy workload? A bunch of them literally blocked me over it. It’s crazy!
It is genuinely embarrassing watching established circles hand out strict, invisible rulebooks to newcomers instead of just being welcoming. When you ignore questions, act too good to interact, and police every single caption for "shade" or "delusional theories," you don't look superior. You just stunt the community's growth.
And here's the thing: even if someone posts something that doesn't sit right with you, the absolute easiest thing to do is slide into their DMs or reply to gently caution them. There's a saying that you beat a child with the left hand and pull them in for a hug with the right. But in this space? There's no grace, just immediate public dragging and gatekeeping.
Congratulations on building a dusty little echo chamber where new fans feel isolated, get tired of overthinking every post, and eventually just leave. That is the exact opposite of what a healthy fandom needs.
Honestly, the space has gotten so scary and toxic that I’ve been sitting right here in Bangkok for two weeks with no friends, wanting to hang out with local or inter DJs available, but my introverted self is too terrified to even mention it because of the hate some of y'all casually dish out.
So before people start crying about why edits are down, discussions are dead, and trends are failing, maybe look at the atmosphere being created. People aren't leaving the artists; they're leaving the drama!

For me, JD's lower engagement isn't simply because they have fewer projects. Even during slow periods, a fandom can stay active if fans have positive content to enjoy and share. Simple interactions between JD, updates from events, fan interactions or even older moments can keep our timeline alive. What I think hurts engagement more is our current fandom environment. There's constant fighting over who the real and fake fans are, rumors that are often spread by DJs themselves (which could easily be avoided by not posting them here) and endless debates about whose opinions are right or wrong and whenever fans genuinely try to hype JD, some people immediately police every caption, questioning whether it's shading someone or pushing a "delusional" theory. Because of that, many fans (including myself) become hesitant to post at all. Instead of enjoying the content, they're worried about being criticized or having our words twisted. When a fandom reaches the point where fans feel they have to overthink every post, participation naturally drops. If you notice,if fewer account made edits, fewer discussions happen and fewer people join trends. So ask ourselves why JD engagement is low. In my opinion, I repeat, this is only my opinion (don't raise your eyebrows) The issue isn't just the lack of work or JD not being active in socmed, it's also the atmosphere within the fandom that discourages people from freely supporting JD.

J : in this industry, no matter what we do, there will always be people judging us. the most important thing is to stay true to yourself and do what you love. people judge us without knowing what's really going on.
D : right, at the end of the day, we're only human. there are positive comments, but also negative ones. sometimes false rumors come up, like, "dating this person, or that one" but we’re just friends.
J : even among friends at GMMTV, sometimes we can’t show how close we really are for fear of rumors disrupting everything. we can’t express genuine friendships because we’re afraid of being judged, whether from outside or within the industry. that's why what happens behind the scenes is often very different from what people see

@catlovesjd_ It's a Thai phrase you can't translate word for word really into English. The meaning is along the lines of a self-depreciating joke about looking older and flirting with someone younger. Seems to be used casually in Thai media, so there's some cultural context here.
