@Peculiar You likely already know but W.T. Stead sis not survive the Titanic as stated on p. 224 of Forgotten Books. You can see the 1920 memorial to him on the Embankment close to where the Pall Mall Gazette office were.

The excellent "Book of Forgotten Authors" declares (p 224) that W.T. Stead "survived the sinking of the Titanic." There is no evidence that Stead survived and the most recent biography by W. Sydney Robinson agrees with all previous accounts that Stead perished on April 15, 1912,
