My heart is breaking -- Nick (@nickpopemod) passed away this afternoon at our home. The last few weeks of his life, even as he suffered, he managed to do a few interviews from home. I was so lucky to have met and to have married Nick. He was a wonderful husband. I loved him dearly.

@Queensneeze @fem_mb This is my biggest bug bear, the walk to school with my daughter runs alongside a field where dogs are often walked & the pavement that runs alongside has mess on it daily & the amount of poo bags you see filled and tied to tree branches. Not against dogs but some owners, man!

@fem_mb British person here. My main concern is that their skanky owners think it's ok to let their dogs crap all over the pavement and leave it there. 🤬 It seems to be getting worse despite the risk of fines.

Now that all the British people are asleep, I'm going to weigh in on their 'dogs in public spaces' debate. I personally like dogs. Not as much as cats, but I like them. But I do have a close friend who is terrified of dogs (and birds). So I understand that dogs in restaurants and other indoor spaces make life very hard for her. Of course society can't change for the phobias of a minority of people. I just think about my own phobia and how difficult life would be for me if people bought their pet frogs everywhere, so I get why it's a tough issue for some people.

@fem_mb @Gander_Critical My cats have access to the outdoors but mostly they like to be indoors. My OH who is not a Brit, feels it is cruel to keep them inside but I as a Brit was always the one wanting to keep them in (overprotective parent) so I don't think it's a Brit thing, it's a personal thing.

@Gander_Critical That's a conversation you don't want to get into with British people, though. They see it as cruel and unnatural to keep cats indoors. I know from experience, it gets ugly.

@fem_mb with medical needs. Outside of that though I don't think it's fair to punish dog owners and their animals for being responsible for wanting them to be outdoors and get exercise.

@fem_mb I think there is responsibility to be had all round. If you had a nut allergy you'd seek out places to eat where there is no possibility of cross contamination, so I think it's reasonable to expect that places should be forthcoming & clear about their policies to help those

@VirtualKohai 2/2 slope.  I now set aside £55/month to put towoards 2 PC ETBs at each drop if I can get em.  Then hubby grabs singles from the local store.  We've also set what we're collecting for ourselves & anything that doesn't meet the definition goes to trade for cards we want.

The deed is done. I have sold my entire Pokemon collection worth 5 figures... It became a pretty big obsession. I would wake up at 3am for pings. Stress and cry if I missed a Pokemon Center drop. I was spending over my income when a new set came out. And if I didn't pull what I wanted I would spend thousands more. My credit card got so high I was spending 700USD on interest PER MONTH. So I realized I had a problem. I sold everything, worked 10x harder at work and in the end payed off my credit card. I forgot how stressed, sad, and depressed the debt was making me. And I am so happy I am out of it. I will still buy pokemon when something comes out, but only with my own money, and never will I spend that much again. Just thought I would share my story with you all. The gamba addiction was real. 💀 💀💀
