Abena Agyekum laments “My mother bought a parcel of land in Ghana in 2019. She has receipts. She has documents. She did everything right. Today, a connected fraudster is building on her land while a CID officer looks the other way. I am done being quiet. Years after she bought the land, a man called Kofi Anokye of KOANS Construction KOANS Estates showed up claiming ownership. He said the land had been re-registered in his name. He claimed he bought it from the late Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, ex-First Lady of Ghana. Under threat and intimidation, my mother was forced to negotiate after she reported to the police station. She paid him GHS 100,000 in 2022 to keep the peace. She has every receipt. She thought it was over. It was not. Four years later, Kofi Anokye is back. He says GHS 100,000 was too small. He now wants GHS 300,000 more or he will cause confusion on the land. He says someone else is ready to pay him that amount. This is extortion. By a man who knows his connections protect him. We reported to CID Accra. Ghana Police Service The head of CID assigned an officer named Agyekum to investigate. Officer Agyekum has been unresponsive, non-transparent, and has done nothing. Yesterday we received calls that KOANS has started building on the land. While a CID case is open. Kofi Anokye himself has stated openly that the courts are in his pocket. He also cites several examples of people who cannot touch him. Claiming even Okyenhene couldn’t contend with him. He said it. He is not hiding. That is the level of impunity we are dealing with. He has also told us that Konadu Rawlings’ own daughter (Amina) is demanding money from him, which is why he needs more from my mother. This is a chain of extortion built on fraudulent land claims, and my mother is at the bottom of it paying for everyone above her. This land was meant to be a baking school. A place to train young Ghanaians. Give them skills. That dream is being cemented over right now by a man who believes his connections make him untouchable. . We’ve gone back to CID But I am asking you. If you are a lawyer, a journalist, an activist, or simply someone who has navigated land fraud in Ghana and knows what works, please reply or DM me.
