Our group had some great conversations through our literature circle! Highly recommend reading “All American Boys” by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely.

I am so incredibly thankful for my #tch204spring2020 class. I was blessed with the best teacher mentor I could have ever hoped for. I feel like through this class and Dr. B’s guidance, I was able to make significant changes about the way I think about equity in education❤️ 1/2

This course really helped me reflect on my biases and gave me insight into how I can make my classroom equitably for all my students. I learned how important it is to get to know your students and where they come from, and to reflect that in your classroom. #tch204spring2020

@dr_s_bertrand Thank you, Dr. B, for being so understanding during this time! I truly appreciate it.

@angiepaul99 @dr_s_bertrand I agree, I would need assignments to be in one spot so I can stay on top of things! It’s been stressful to keep up when things are not all in the same place. I just wish up coming assignments would pop up somewhere like when you pull up your ReggieNet.

@dr_s_bertrand A4: If we don’t go back in the fall, I would really need good communication with my professors. Detailed online syllabus and everything in an organized spot. Online classes in general are so hard for me so it would be so tough to have to do this again. #tch204spring2020

@miss_kass @dr_s_bertrand I think that it would be great if they allow us to partner with a local teacher, if this happens in the fall!
English

@dr_s_bertrand A4 continued: I would also need reassurance from my education program that I would be able to finish on time with my degree. It will be so sad if we miss out on more time in the classroom!
English

@dr_s_bertrand A4: If this happens, and I really hope it doesn’t, I would need my teachers to communicate with me and be patient. I would also need them to be organized and clear with their expectations. That will make it easier on the students and the teacher in my opinion! #tch204spring2020

@SamanthaGrzani1 @dr_s_bertrand I also find it hard to retain information when the teacher is just lecturing the whole time and going through information quickly. With 204, Dr. B has been so helpful in working with us, going step by step and understanding our struggles. #tch204spring2020

@dr_s_bertrand A3: I’ve found that there is a fine line between a good zoom call and a horrible one lol. On zoom I really enjoy when professors talk slowly and and communicate about their vulnerability durning this time. We figure it out together. #tch204spring2020 1/2

@dr_s_bertrand @misshtindall Our 208 professor was able to put us into breakout groups during our classroom zoom session that was helpful since everyone was on at the same time! #tch204spring2020

@NitkaRachel @dr_s_bertrand I have a class where lots of busy work has been added too. I just feel it’s not beneficial and it waste time we could be putting into our final project. #tch204spring2020
English

@dr_s_bertrand A3: Some things that haven’t worked: assigning busy work, being harsh when grading, thinking students are just being at home doing nothing. Good: Taking away assignments, limiting assignments, thinking equitably tch204spring2020

@MadisonJohann20 @dr_s_bertrand I agree! Organization during this time is key. I’ve been feeling those nerves too, that I’m forgetting to do something! #tch204spring2020
English

@dr_s_bertrand A3: When my professors stay organized and let us know what is expected of us each week I find it to be easier to manage. One of my classes has assignments posted all over Reggienet and not in one central location so I am always nervous I am forgetting something! #tch204spring2020

@dr_s_bertrand (2/2) but didn’t hear back from everyone until the week before it was due.. it just obviously would have been much easier had we been able to meet in person under normal circumstances. #tch204spring2020
English

@dr_s_bertrand A3: I think the use of Zoom for my classes has been successful for the most part. All of my teachers have really worked hard to make it work for the students. Group projects have been tough for some of my classes, for instance, for my math class I emailed my group.. (1/2)
